Will we be able to adjust the volume of the track vocals off like in karaoke revolution? Perhaps only easy could have backing vocals...I really really hope this is in the game - I didn't buy singstar because you couldn't turn the vocals off.

Plus I would much rather hear other band vocals online that the original track stuff anytime....

Please Harmonix make my dream come true :)

I think it's a fairly good guess that the original singer volume will be modifiable. I believe I've seen one performance at E3 with the background singer turned off, but I could be wrong.

I don't think that they should have original vocals on, but without them the singing part would sound boring. I think that they should definitely have backing vocals. They add so much to a song.

I think there should be an option to change the volume of the actual vocals so that you can choose to have them or not. If you aren't a good singer you might want it to overpower your own voice. I personally kind of like how it sounds when the actual vocals kind of meld with the persons voice who is singing.

Look at the suffragete city vid floating around. The girl adjusts the "Vocals Volume" on the fly in the middle of the song. Turns it down so you can only hear her.

So im guessing this volume thing is located on the mic and can be used to modify track volume at any time

You mean this one? http://www.gametrailers.com/player/21680.html I dont see her change the volume, but who knows, that would be nice, if you could change the volume on the fly.

Yes I was wondering this myself, They probably do have an option to change the volume of the singer and back ground vocals.... I only want to hear my voice if I'm singing

hey does anyone know the answer to my question about the vocals? I want to know whether or not the mic triggers the original artists voice (when you do well) or whether it just sends your own voice through Xbox Live (or whatever cheap knock-off of xbox live that sony has) and just monitors how well you sing it. Does anyone know?

It sings your own voice.

And the vocal tracks and your voice tracks are completely adjustable, according to this:

Well, in the MS press conference, you could hear the background vocals coming through, as well as the person who was singing.

In the G4 live demo, you couldn't hear the background vocals and you could only hear the person who was singing.

So, there is either an adjust, or at least an on/off, just going from that.

Maybe none of you have played any of the Karaoke Revolution games but this was a feature since the very first one. You can even up your mic to get louder.

This is a no-brainer, really. I mean we could adjust the volume of guitar, track, and sound effects on GH1 and 2. You can adjust volume of everything on Karaoke Revolution. Why WOULDN'T you be able to adjust the volume of the vocals for this game??

So you are saying that the original artists voice is triggered by tour own voice and you can turn off your own voice if you want? Because that would be ideal! If that is the case then I'm more excited than before (and I was "**** my pants" excited before!!!!!)

I'd like it to go both ways. Online it's quite likely that I'd rather hear the original vocals.. but at home in a party atmosphere I'd like to hear my friends making complete fools of themselves ^__^ (main vocals off, but backing vocals enabled)

For the demos themselves, personally I think they come off better without the main vocals running.. or at least toned down a lot. They should probably pimp the adjustable levels feature a bit to the media.. coz it is an important question.

Well has anyone thought about how there's diffrent difficulty settings for the lead singer, maybe on easy u hear the original artist and on the hardest u dont hear them. Maybe even the lyrics are gone for more difficulty. Cause if there's 4 diffrent settings, i can't really think of what they could do to make singing harder. Just a thought.

I think that they would increase the scrutiny the computer has over your singing, to make it harder, that is...like you might be able to sing a bit off-key in easy, but in expert you gotta be right on the money! or yeah the lyrics might go away, but I think that'd be way too hard! I don't want to have to memorize a bunch of lyrics if I'm singing a song I don't really like that much.

It does sound like an easy feature to add, for sure. But all the demos don't show it and Singstar didn't have this ability. When I asked the producer from Sony why, they said it was due to licensing from artists being in the way.

I think ideally it would be linked into difficulty too, so you don't have to go thru menus eveytime a new person sings. Once you get to hard, no more original vocals maybe...

When I sing, I can ONLY hear my voice. I don't plan on singing much :(

Like I already said, it's already CONFIRMED to have adjustable volume levels for your own voice and the in game vocal track.

actually i would love it if the bg vox volume was tied to the difficulty.

Hard - muted bg vox at all.....
expert - muted bg vox.. no lyrics

i am a rock singer.... and memorizing lyrics is part of being a singer... to be an expert its gotta be in your head... just like how people memorize those guitar sequences in guitar hero for expert mode

I agree with you! Turning off the vocals should be an option at least! That's what I hate about Singstar too.

Seems like most folks agree that it's either been confirmed already, or might as well have, that you can turn down the volume of the original singer. Just wanted to add that in one of the HMX blogs, can't remember which one, but the blogger mentioned something about playing the game and not bothering to turn down the original vocals. So that would lead me to believe that there is definately that option.
