Ok so my PS3 decided to crap out on me last night, so today I went and bought a new one but the only problem is I have a ton of DLC and the band NEWFOUNDLAND BELBIN has alot of accomplishments with battle of bands and high scores and what not. I am also top ranked on cod4 so at the moment im backing up old system on memory card 32gig and my question is will this transfer everything over as if it were the old system again, like top scores, battle of bands, trophies, etc........ please help!

It should, but that's never happened to me so I can't say.

Can you put your old PS3 hard drive into the new one? I don't have a PS3 so I don't know if that actually works, but it seems logical.

No I don't think that would work, because you still have to reformat the harddrive, I just tried backing up the info and that did not work! It didn't transfer over the songs, scores, characters, what not anyone have help!

Maybe this will help? link (http://vgstrategies.about.com/od/ps3cheatsandcodes/a/PS3HDDDriveSwap.htm)

The memory card will only store game saves not content. Seems you have to back it all up on an external usb drive after formating it to FAT32 on a computer and then plugging it to the PS3 and using a built in backup utility to transfer your files. Hope that helps.

EDIT: Found this too...

"Get an external USB drive at least 40GB in size and format it on your computer to FAT32.

Then connect it to your PS3 and use the built-in backup utility to copy your data to it.

Install the new hard drive. After you have it formatted and configured, use the backup utility to restore your data."

Yeah, if you use the back-up utility it will save EVERYTHING. I've done it before and it worked perfectly. You just need an external HDD big enough to fit everything on.

So if I do this will it not loose my data?

I tried backing up everything on a hdd card and it didn't save the band, nor songs, or scores so that didn't work! I dont know what else to do

Update I'm going to try what lockheed told me to do with the flash drive, so I will see how that works out in the next hour or so, if anyone else has any ideas post please!
