View Full Version : Extremely easy suggestion for preventing drum slippage on wood floors

I have hardwood through out the house, and I used to put my ottoman in front of my drum kit to prevent it from sliding. Not too effective, cause that started sliding too.

Was considering other methods of holding the kit down when my wife popped in with a sheet of non-slip rug pad that she wasn't using. It goes under rugs to prevent them from sliding everywhere. I cut off a little rectangle, put it under the kit. Works like a charm!

I would say I play about medium-hard, and haven't had it slip at all yet. Folds up tiny when not in use, too. Worth a shot, and they're available pretty much anywhere for about 5 bucks or so: Home Depot, WalMart, et al.

Good luck!

Yeah I got hardwood floors too and I had to get a couple of those pads to keep from breaking my neck while playin Dance Dance Revolution on my PS2. :)

I have carpet and it slides on that. :/ Best thing would have been if Harmonix put some rubber nubs at the bottom. Those should easily fix the issue. You hear that Harmonix? Get on it.

You would think that, but real drum kits have rubber on the feet of the bass drum, and it sure doesn't keep my drummer's kit from sliding away from him at band practice...

Get one of the pads. I was thinking of posting a link when I originally posted this, and when I googled "non slip rug pad" there were a ton of links. About every other one showed non slip pads being used on carpet. The stuff is really cool, holds on really tight for some unknown quantum molecular reason. Hey, hold on...

OK back, just tried it on one of the rugs I have in the house and it works great.

Good luck.

:/ man I have carpet and my drums slip too and it screws up my bass pedal pushing and then I have to like pause mid song and drag them back

Ive tried putting a barstool in front of them and sticking my left foot on the base of the drums to keep it in place but that doesnt even work completely lol

Mine was sliding away from me even on carpet, but I found a great fix. I simply placed a 20lb dumbell at the feet near the pedal and it doesn't move an inch!

Yeah, was thinking of that, but I have to move my kit to the corner every time I wrap up playing, and didn't want to have a lot of work to do breaking down. Not that moving a dumbbell is a lot of work, but now I also have an ugly dumbbell in the corner of the room (along with the ugly fake drumset and 2 ugly fake guitars, according to my wife.)

The fake guitars actually look pretty nice. If they could only get them to work though...

Anyway, i might have to try that rug thing if it also works on rug. Thanks for the advice.

But isn't the point of games like this that you're actually physically doing something?? One 20lb arm curl isn't gonna kill ya! ;)

Ehh... "Putting S**t Away" is one title I will not be picking up for my 360. :D

The less time cleaning up, the better. And really, it has to much more do with having to store a bid ol dumbbell somewheres... OK, I guess you really want the long story:

I have an office in the back house, and mostly I play with my wife, biz partner, and employees. Usually on a break, after work, lunch time, whatever. So we have time for a set or 2, and then we have to break down and go back to work / home. We need to be built for speed for maximum rockage!
