True enough my friend, but if only the media didn't sensationalize these unfortunate events so much maybe there wouldn't be so many of them, what I mean is, we got these crazy fu**ers! who hate life and everyone in it, and they are watching tv and they are seeing all these similar shootings, so they think: "Hey I was gona kill myself anyway so why not take as many people as I can with me and become famous right?!"
for God's sake, these poor people where just on a normal day shopping for Christmas presents!! It's just terrible.:(

But aside from this awful tradegy, this just further highlights why the American Constitution is an out of date piece of rubbish that lets anyone wield a gun! A gun is an instrument of nothing more than death and destruction, and Americans are allowed to legally have these, even if they suffer from depression!

False in Texas. If you have a history of mental illness, you are not allowed to have a gun in Texas. Plus he was 19... You have to be 21 in Texas. This seems more like an issue with the state law, not the Constitution. If we learned anything from the Sean Taylor incident, it is that those without guns in the home are only bringing a knife to a gun fight.
If guns are outlawed, then only outlaws will have guns.

Where? It isn't popping up on news sites.
Edit: It is old, but they legalized sodomy in 2004, I think. I promise. You can look it up. Butt secks is now legal in Texas.

Oh, I thought you were saying that there was another one today....
I remember that the Daily Show did a piece on the revoking of sodomy in Texas. They interviewed a fake *** couple and asked them why they were celebrating. They said that it is because they can finally do it after 10 years. When Jon asked why they didn't before, they said it is because they wanted to be law abiding citizens. I lol'd

Food for thought --according to the FBI crime stats we (America) average about 11 murders each and every day---and that doesn't include murders where the victim knew the accused---that's purely stranger murder stats.......

The scary thing of this all is I work just blocks away from this mall, I mean, i really step back and think, god, that could have been me. I've been meaning to go to that mall and return some stuff... what if I had decided to go yesterday? Its sad :(
The person who did the shooting yes did kill himself, as far as you talking about the guns, last I heard, those guns were not his, they were his stepfathers I believe.

wow!! Did you know any of the people that got killed? what a horrible christmas for their relatives, may they find comfort soon.
As for your comment about the boy who did the shooting, yes it always goes back to the parents, even if this type of incident involves an adult. This must have been one screwed up kid.
Edit: and on a side note, remember the thread you made about the goth kid? well it proves my point in the post I made in there,we better take heed on those types of situations, that kid could be the next shooter in some school or mall.

^i disagree. He doesn't fit the profile. His first outreach for attention came through conventional means.
The kid who shot up Viginia Tech, the Columbine kids, the kid who shot up the mall all have one thing in common. Their disgusting acts were all their first major outreach for attention. Everyone said the same thing about them. They were quiet and kept to himself. That goth kid isn't keeping to himself and is actually supporting his cause in a respectable manner, despite how odd he looks.

No, I did not know anyone who got killed, believe it or not, but Omaha has over half a million people with the suburb cities included, Omaha alone is 400 thousand, Bellevue (where I live and where the shooter was from) is around 50 thousand, and there are other suburbs to Omaha that add up to another 100 thousand people.
This kid has previously had issues though. I just read an article that he was a ward of the state for 4 years. He said he needed help and he became a ward of the state from his parents. He threatened to kill several lives.. his stepmother as one.. and many others.
Its unfortunate that he had to take this out, he even claimed in one of his suicide letters he was doing this to become "famous"
I'm still utterly shocked this happened here.. I mean think of Virginia Tech, maybe I'm jaded, but when that happened, I though wow, that is awefully tragic, but it did not really affect me that much.. but now that this has happened, literally in my back yard, its a huge reality check on how ****ed up people are.

^Do you see the ugliness in that picture? That gun is aimed at innocent people. With the squeeze of that trigger, lives of everyone in that mall changed. This was a horrible act. Though I am for the right to bare arms, it must be under some serious regulations. A gun like that should NOT be able to be purchased unless you go through hell of licensing and background checks almost to the point where one would consider if its really worth having it.
We live in a world full of these pieces of sh*t.

I don't want to detract from the tragedy of what happened, but this is a VERY idiodic remark. As a gun owner myself, it is sad to see someone who actually believes this idea. I don't want to get on a huge 2nd ammendment rant, but what the heck are you gonna do when someone breaks into your house becuase they saw you playing on your huge LCD TV, and they want to steal it, or they think you have a bunch of money hidden somewhere, or you are at the mall parking lot and someone grabs your mom and holds a knife to her neck......how are you going to defend yourself, or your family's lives? Talk them out of killing? I think more people should own guns. Think of all the crime there wouldn't be if more people carried guns. I'm talking about properly going through the correct procedures to get one. Not buying one from "some guy", or anything like that. If more people had guns, there would be a lot less of these morons trying to rob and steal, because you never know who's gonna have a gun.
You take guns away, and criminals KNOW there is nothing you can do, except give in to them, cause you dont have a gun...some screwball liberal passed a law that got the guns taken away. NOT A GOOD IDEA.
I hope that the families of these victims can still have a happy holiday season. Omaha is just about 80 miles from my house, and my cousin said he goes to that mall all the time.

I definatly hope so too. I refuse to give in and glorify the killer by stating his name... Its still all over the news here.. Its still stunning to believe this happened so close to home. When I first heard about it, the report was only that two people were dead. My boyfriend was telling me about this on the phone, i said pssht, whatever, betcha its a gang shooting (common in Omaha it seems as of late).. thought not much about it until I got to work and found out the magnitude of it. Wow. :/
Try going to that mall nearly every day for a lunch walk... that's whats an even scarier thought. I havent gone the last few weeks as its been too cold. wow.

RIP, another sad day.
Sorry to bring this up here, but why is it that were are constatly mourning the loss of life instead of preventing them by out lawing guns altogether, or make them difficult to buy and register for, that way there would be no Virgina Tech, no Colombine, and none of this. Its worked for Canada, we've had al but one major shooting for as long as I can remeber and that one was in Quebec. Guns serve no purpose outside of warzones.

also its sad that we've been demoralized as of late regarding shootings. We pass it off as an everday occuarance now, almost relying on it, bcc if we dont hear about a murder that day we think the somethings wrong.

Holy cow man, you sadden me. Outlaw guns because of these people? Use your head!!! Do you think these people went through the proper channels to procure these weapons? NO! Holy crap.....Guns DO serve purposes outside of warzones.
Personal protection.
Outlawing guns is NOT going to prevent this at all. It will just take guns out of the hands of citizens that are actually responsible enough to own them. Criminals are going to get them whether or not they are outlawed. Killing people is "outlawed", but this happened.....do you think they care? No. You might as well outlaw axes, bats, vehicles, kitchen knives, rope, KFC sporks, snowballs, fingernail clippers, box cutters, and on and on and on.

Hunting rifles are a different story, im talking about Pistols, and small firarms such as UZI's and the like, no need for em. And why would some one need to defend themselves? I know absolutly NO ONE that owns a gun. This world is getting ****ed about if people are so paranoid and scared that they need to buy a gun. That is all I will say on the issue.

Guns will still be around even if they were made illegal. They would just become even more intertwined with drugs, gangs, rape and murder.
While I do agree the American Constitution is out-of-date, the right to bear arms is essential to democracy. It empowers the people to overthrow the government if it should fail.
