View Full Version : Illuminated and Glowing Drumsticks

I'm seeing some brands in my music store that sell drumsticks which have impact-sensor illumination or glow in the dark. Has anyone ever had the thought of buying these?
Some of them are pretty cheap, but they don't live up to the standards of ordinary drumsticks. Others are more expensive than the ordinary to maintain the looks of the ordinary while still sticking out the flashy features.
Here's a list I've looked at so far:
Electro Glo Drumstix (http://glodrumstix.com/)
I heard that these are the basic of all builds to have the shock-absorbent illumination in them. But I can't find any deeper details in that, which I pretty much need.
TAC - The Ant Commandos (http://www.theantcommandos.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=44&Itemid=54)
Because it's powered by a battery, and has a unique construction, suppose that handle is screwed on, wouldn't that fall off or even break easily if used by a metalhead?
VIC FIRTH Lite Stix (http://store.drumbum.com/skuSTK-43.html)
What a pricey beast! Not only do they put in USB-rechargable features, but they want to maintain the look and feel of an ordinary drumstick. They don't say about size preferences, so it may be hit or miss because of its untold weight.
AHEAD Laser Drumsticks
Those things look like they can burn an eye out! I heard a lot of good and bad about this one. Probably best for these when playing in fog. I'd probably be tweaking and adjusting these more of the time than playing with them.
HipTrix Glow-in-the-dark Drumsticks
Since their website is being reorganized, I can't find any details about this one. If it doesn't cost batteries, then that's both good and bad.
Intec Glow Drumsticks
Well... I don't have any idea.
Tell me, are these kinds of sticks all show and no go, or do they actually prove a better use than normal? Have you tested out these kinds of sticks? How long have they lasted, and how comfortable are they?

Hmm.. Laser drumsticks + stage kit?
Kid me not!
@ the VF lite sticks: USB charge? srsly?!??!?!?!?!/1/1/1/1/11//1/1
Price is more than a lot of other drum accessories that are necessary.

I want a pair...too bad they provide ZERO bounce.

Actually it would be cool to get some opinions on these. Might be fun to break out during an actual show some time, wonder how they'd stand up to a real kit.

I did see a Rockbandparts.com review of one of those pairs (forgot which one) but it was really cool looking and make out of hard acrylic.
In other words, imagine playing drums with stick made of Shamu's tank from Sea World.

Yeah, I imagine I'd only be able to break them out during simplistic tunes, because it seems like they would be crap for bounce. I'd really like the whole stick to glow, but the Vic Firth ones only have the tips glowing, but they are made out of wood.

Same here, maybe for Cool For Cats and Sunday Morning, not Visions or Between the Buried and Me.

The composition of the sticks is pretty irrelevant for bounce and you people need to get the whole obsession with "bounce" out of your heads, seriously.
