Actually, RR really did have a very decent setlist.
Too bad everyone hates Konami's rhythm games for some reason.

Both have there ups and downs, so I'm not gonna choose. But I do enjoy a ton of rock band songs, and they seem to do a better job at HMX of picking good indie type bands while activision tries to rely on exclusive big acts (not saying HMXs big acts aren't as good)

goin by on disk songs alone I rate the games like this
WT>GH:M>GH1>RB1>GH2>RB2>GH3>GH:A>GH:80's
I am a big hendrix fan, also love the doors, sublime, tool ect, and GH:M had 2 of my favorite songs that I didn't expect to see in a game, albatross and demon cleaner, after that it's kinda iffy on what's the best, out of gh1 rb1 and gh2 it's really hard to pick which ones I like more, but I'm not a big fan of the RB2 setlist, or the ones listed after that, just a few songs on each game I like. Even if you add in dlc, it's still a tough one between RB and GH, I love the songs I've bought for both games, but I think I've bought more songs that I just kinda like for RB and more songs that I love for GH.

The rhythm games from the Bemani family are ****ing huge in Japan.
Rock Revolution just sucked, but Konami does make quite a few high quality rhythm games

Too bad the majority of the songs in RR were covers. To answer the OP, Rock Band has better songs.

I agree with you on that. GHWT alone has some bands that Rock Band doesn't have that I consider to be good. In general, I believe the GH main setlists are better than RB's. GHWT alone has Van Halen, The Doors, The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Tool, Ozzy Osbourne, and Ted Nugent. I'd love to see all those artists in Rock Band at some point.

GH has the best on disc setlists if you like old guy rock
I think many people agree with that
Fixed :D
I disagree with your original statement. :p I abhor the GH:WT and GH3 main setlist for the most part. GH2 was good. GH1 had uh... Thunderkissin', Take Me Out, and Iron Man.

I will respectfully disagree with you on the GHWT setlist, the bands I mentioned above would be great in Rock Band. GH3 had a bunch of great songs IMO, but some of the songs I think were best in that game are covers, Sunshine of Your Love comes to mind right away. I think Guitar Hero had a lot of great songs, I liked pretty much the entire setlist save a few songs. That's not saying RB and RB2 don't have good setlists, because they do, but I think GH's main setlists have been better.

wow daemius, with that one fixed quote you showed complete ignorance....unless 26 is the new 40 or something and I wasn't informed. Of course I do enjoy music from past decades, but that's because music is timeless...for example let's say eric clapton since he's mentioned above, he's an old guy, but for the most part the music I like of his he wrote when he was alot younger, layla, cocaine, sunshine of your love, also I take it your saying iron man is a good song. Look at how old those guys are, some of sabbaths fans are over twice as old as me.
I admit which setlist is better is based on opinion, but I can't think of one song on any gh or rb game that I consider old man rock, unless it's green grass and high tides, and that's only b/c the outlaws are pretty much unknown to my generation but my friends dad knew the song well. Of course the who could be called that but that goes back to my points about clapton and sabbath. Anyway my nephew started listening to classic rock like zeppelin, floyd, hendrix, the doors ect when he was 14, so it does appeal to a younger generation even though it was recorded over a decade and in some cases 3 decades before he was born.

Fixed :D
I completely disagree! :D
I prefer classic rock and very much prefer the setlists for the Rock Band games over the more recent GH titles. (I recently picked up GH2 and the setlist for that is great, but the charting and gameplay feel far more akin to Rock Band than to GH3 onward.)
RB1 had classic greats like Foreplay/Long Time, Green Grass and High Tides, Don't Fear The Reaper, Ballroom Blitz, Detroit Rock City, Flirtin' With Disaster, and Won't Get Fooled Again, just off the top of my head, not to mention DLC songs from the Grateful Dead, The Who, Sabbath, Blondie, Boston, The Cars, and Jimmy Buffett.
Then comes RB2 with legendary songs like Any Way You Want It, Carry On Wayward Son, Let There Be Rock, American Woman, Eye of the Tiger, Go Your Own Way, Pinball Wizard, Ramblin' Man, Shooting Star, and Rock'n Me.
There's plenty for Classic Rock fans in the RB franchise, and I'm lucky enough that they have more of my favorite bands (The Who, Journey, Black Sabbath, Outlaws, Buffett, Boston, KISS, Grateful Dead, Blondie) than GH does. Heck, if RB could just snag some more Creedence, Skynyrd, and Foreigner, I'd never buy another GH title again! ;) Are you listening HMX?
Edit: Also, can't forget the AWESOME REO Speedwaggon songs they just put out, all of which are very popular on Classic Rock radio stations.

Blah blah I get way too defensive blah blah
Wow by calling me ignorant you showed that you don't understand my sarcasm at all.
When I said "Old Guy Rock" that's just my affectionate term for classic rock, which I know, not only old people like. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt that you haven't seen me post often and that's why you didn't understand my sarcasm there, as anyone who knows me knows that 95% of my posts are laced in non malicious sarcasm :D I'm not one of those dufus metal heads that only buy metal in any way, shape, or form (although I am a metal head :p). I've got plenty of classic DLC on my RB setlist. I only meant that, generally, GH goes for the big name classics, which I tend not to like much. RB has its fair share of classics, but tend to branch out more.

Rock band 1 and 2 have better songs, but Guitar hero can get ahold of pretty much any song they want because of how commercial they are.
Guitar hero smash hits on the other hand seems to have a few songs i am not buying for rock band because smash hits is going to be epicly awesome! I was going to buy GH2 because i thought that game had a pretty good song list but i think smash hits will be second place.
GH:WT has some very very awesome songs but too bad its not the majority that does, i just like kicking everyones ass online on guiar proface offs and battles.
