when being used as a genre reference, noise typically refers to harsh, abstract music that lacks a traditional structure, melody, and/or rhythm.

it's a pretty wide genre including everyone from the early 20th century composer luigi russolo to modern psychedelic improvisers the skaters.

Tool fans are a different beast altogether. I like tool, and consider myself a casual fan, but I have friends who are absolutely obsessed to the extent of covering their myspace profiles with pictures of themselves with Danny Carey, and planning trips down here to go to Alex Gray's gallery. Then again, I've never met an obsessive Tool fan that was a waste of breath. One of my friends is an amazing tattoo artist, and another who is a fantastic drummer and alchemist. Juggalos are a bunch of white trash. I've never met one that *wasn't* a waste of breath.

Heh, it's not really their fault. Tool just has that effect. It always seems, right or wrong, as if there's more and more depth to their music and lyrics. It's a horrible mind trap that I was caught in for quite some time before I finally learned to just enjoy the great music. Honestly, as long as you don't get them started on Cesaro Summation or the Fibonacci Sequence, they're usually intelligent people.

I will, however, say that the fans who fawn over and deify (literally) MJK can be really annoying. I have always respected him as a fantastic singer and lyricist, but I could never see him as "god".

Anyway, the point is, Tool fans can be pretty bad, but there's worse out there. At least they don't excitedly embrace the name "maggots".

Agreeing with some previous posters about the ICP fanbase.

Homophobic idiots that have absolutely terrible taste in music, I was refered to them by one of my friends (Who was a Juggalo at the time). He said the music was humorous and had a good sound, So I listened to a couple of tracks, it was just pathetic, absolute pig****, this ear sodomy being called music made me apalled.

I also find it funny that the assclowns have the audacity to say they're underground musicians, yet they produce merchandise by the truckloads and I think they have two platnum albums.......yeah, real underground.

As I've said, we can't judge the Jonas Brothers' talent. They're associated with Disney, so they have to keep their sound appealing directly to young children. For all we know, they could be the most talented band we've seen in a while. As long as they're signed with Disney, we'll never know.

Gerard Way has always tried to be the next Corgan; and Ray Toro also has always came off as "lol im da next Brian May", yes; it was more obvious on the Black Parade (which they were also "ripping off" on the Beatles, if I may add) - but that might be why it felt like a well-written record.

That's a much better example. I wasn't feeling the music from the first link, but that link is better. I love noise "music", yet I can totally understand why someone would hate it.
