What's the point of the battery compartment on the 360 guitars? I've been wondering this since I got it.

Right now, nothing. My guess would be that it's intended for wireless functionality on newer revisions of the guitar. They just put it in early as a spaceholder for when it'll be needed on future designs.

Ok? I guess that might make sense but it just seems pointless to put it in right now unless they really had the extra time or whatever. I wonder if anyone noticed anything about it when they were modding their strumbar?

They probably made one body that is shared between the PS3 and 360 models.

I agree it seems pointless to put in the wires and actual battery contacts, but to place the battery compartment in the guitar now isn't pointless. It prevents having to redesign the internals and shift stuff around to make room for a battery compartment when they finally do get around to implementing the wireless functionality.

ding ding ding...

'tell him what hes won bob....' ;)

this seems to be the consensus, one body for the ps3 and xbox360, for whatever reason you xbox guys didnt get a wireless controller *shrugs*

us ps3 guys have the little hole (plugged up) for the headset jack you guys can use on the 360, no use for us on the ps3.

Ever wondered why they have braille on drive-up ATMs? Because its cheaper to make one version of something and mass produce than to make two different versions. They know blind people dont drive cars. They know the 360 guitar isnt wireless.

Harmonix has said that xbox didnt get wireless because of the cost to license the microsoft wireless technology would have added to the cost of the xbox bundles and they didnt want the price to be out of line with the ps3 pricing. (im paraphrasing here)

So, in regards to that, that means the wireless guitars for the 360, if they come out, are going to cost a crap load?

I am planning on utilizing this battery compartment to add some LEDs or something else like that. Even if my mod doesn't use AAs, I could dremmel out the inside and fit in diff types of batteries.

I was actually thinking of the exact same thing. It would be sweet to add some effects to those guitars.
