Hello,

My offline profile is called Wetyet for Rockband and we have unlocked lots of achievements/stars/fans/money.

My Gamertag was unavailable so instead I created on Xbox Live Gold "Wetyet360"@ 12 months.

Now, if I change my offline profile name of wetyet to wetyet360 will that merge them into one?

Is there anyway to see who is registered to the name of Wetyet? It could have been me a long time ago playing some other games or something.

Thank you all for any input ;o)

Sadly no it won't, you'll have to start from scratch on the new Xbox Live Gold profile you just made.

You sure about that? I can't see that being true, considering most people would probably just use there name if they never intended to use Live.

Yeah, my buddy had the same problem, and he called MS support and they said he'd have to start all over again.

I'm pretty sure there's a way to make your offline GT into an online one, but as you said yours is already taken. Not sure what to tell you to do honestly.

So my first assumption wouldn't work? Renaming the offline profile to the new online name wouldn't merge?

Is kindof consufing....

I also read that I needed to be logged into my offline profile of Wetyet and then when I went to signup maybe it would have merged them. or say Wetyet was untaken then it would have worked fine.

I don't know.

Can't you copy your save file to another account? I know that you can do this on PS3, but that's for every games except RockBand... Maybe RockBand on X360 is the same, but I'm asking that as a general question. Is your save file locked to your ID? Or can you copy your save file to another account directly (on the same console) or a memory card can bring it at a friend's house and play it without having to log as you on his console?

On another note, Harmonix should fix the sharing. Okay, it might lead to people getting stuff they didn't earn, BUT, for the honest ones, if you have to change your HDD or if there's a fire in your house, your console burns but you had your USB key with all your back-ups on it with you at work, you get a new console, you will still have all your datas except RockBand, so you would have to start again. Sucks.

What's the process for taking back a Credit Card payment for the 12mos. subscription to Gold? I also purchased some points which I was going to buy songs with. I made the purchase few days ago... but now I think I know what I need to do.

You would need to contact MS. If you are lucky, they will agree to cancel your subscription, and they will credit you back. Tell them your problem, they might be able to fix it, while you're at it.

I thought if you had a gamertag that was already used, it will let you change it and keep your achievements. You are allowed to change your gamertag on live for 800 points which equals $10. So I know for a fact you CAN change your gamertag. I just don't know how you would do it in your situation since you aren't already a member on live in the first place to use any points. Don't give up just yet.

As far as merging, you can't do that. So any achievements or anything since your new gamertag will be lost. But you should be able to keep all of your offline stuff and rename the gamertag.

So.. I can rename my offline gamertag "wetyet" to "wetyet360" and that might do it? Well I'll give it a shot shortly. I called 3 MS Tech support and they all had COMPLETELY different answers haha.

Can you elaborate a bit Stevenam81 I don't quite follow.

Thank you,

Not sure if my situation is different than yours (Sounds like it) but when I created my offline profile for RockBand, I just used "Matt" to keep it simple since I wanted to hurry and play the game but when I registered on Xbox Live later (Never did it before, had a month free trial so decided to do it), it allowed me to change my profile's name to "Faldrok", so I'm now Faldrok on Xbox Live, my offline profile is also called Faldrok, and it kept all of my achievements that I did before signing up with Xbox Live.

But since you've already signed up for Xbox Live before you changed your offline profile's name...I'm not sure if it'll work for you, but I do see a chance of it working.

Thanks for the reply...

Yeah I just tried to change it but it wouldn't work.

I'd probably need to get a refund, etc and do it right this time.

Thanks
