or do you have to preorder the bundle?

I got the email just as I was leaving work.

I was so excited to come on here and see the instruments that I drove halfway without my headlights on :-/

Anyway, I hope someone in the pre-order club helps us out soon!

...I said I think you just need to preorder the game, sorry I didn't look it up for you and answer any sooner!

April 16th - North American and European fans who pre-order any version of the game will be eligible to join the The Beatles: Rock Band Pre-Order Club and receive breaking news and access to exclusive game elements including art and behind-the-scenes footage directly from MTV Games and Harmonix. New material will be released regularly starting in May and leading up to the game’s launch on 9/9/09. Go to the Official Web Site for more information(emphasis added) but the problem is that the pre-order web site isn't really up yet so we don't know who the participating retailers are! Also I'm pretty sure that exclusive pre-order bonuses of things like pictures of instruments are going to be shared very quickly.

I will definitely be preordering... at least the stand-alone game...

I probably won't get the bundle though...

I want a stand-alone bass... I would get the Fender P-Bass but I'm holding out to see what the Hoffner Bass is like... it's gotta be wireless... annnnyway.. hopefully the preorder section of the website gets fixed before the morning.

Ok.....well maybe this will help out.....
I work at a Gamecrazy, and we are taking pre-orders for the game as we speak, that being said we got a email at work the other day about the Beatles pre-order club. It says we will have the codes to hand out the start of May (I have had a few days off so we might have them now even) and that they are to be handed out with ANY pre-order of the game.....stand alone OR bundle.......and even the guitars, though we dont have those in the system alone yet. Ill see if the codes came in when I go into work in the morning to pick up my points cards for the DLC today.....

I got the e-mail, dug around to the Harmonix Rock Band store, where there is a Beatles tab, and bought the bundle.

I got an order number and an SKU number, but no pre-order club code. I've tried entering both those other numbers, and it was a no go.

The site was very slow loading, and it appears the version of the ordering page is not completed.

It seems like they rushed this thing live. If someone else could tell me if they get a pre-order number, and when it came (with your order? later??) I would appreciate that.

Well, the preorderclub page where you should see the retailers is actually just the same as the home page. The problem is that they use relatives path to call their javascript in the page so it doesn't loads the flash and you just get the plain html page.
I hope we will receive a new mail soon where we can find out how we can really preorder the game. I'm not interested in a club that has no way to apply for membership :)

It's set up so any page not found silently returns the home page anyway, and if it's a directory http://www.thebeatlesrockband.com/bfhudshfsa/ then the relative links are broken as you say. The working homepage http://www.thebeatlesrockband.com/ does have the "preorder game" link (in the flash, but not in the HTML!) going to http://www.thebeatlesrockband.com/preorderclub/ link as given in the email but...

Ah ha! Solved it! The directory exists but they forgot to specify a default index page!

To gain access to The Beatles: RockBand Pre-Order Club, pre-order any version of the The Beatles: RockBand by visiting your participating retailer, including the below stores. The Beatles: RockBand will be released on 9 September, 2009. The Pre-Order Club will provide you with breaking news and access to exclusive game elements including art and behind-the-scenes footage prior to the game’s release.

Gamestop, Amazon.com, Best Buy, Sam's Club, Frys.com

GREAT WORK!

It's a shame that Harmonix makes its customers "decode" their websites in order to take advantage of a pre-order club which they've announced.

Well there's also the Gamecrazy employee in this thread who is expecting codes at their store, the surprising lack of the store on rockband.com itself and nothing much in Europe even though previous press has indicated we can get pre-order club privileges too. So I wouldn't take that to be a very complete list.

I have possibly uncovered something that wasn't meant to be the real final page anyway since they don't link to it (just looks like they meant to) and the links to retailers are broken.

No code but I'm planning on calling the store once they open and find out if they have any info on it.

And yeah, craven, I'm sure you are right... it just initially struck me as odd that EB wouldn't be listed.

But yeah if Gamecrazy is getting it and its not listed... I should have picked up on that. I blame the lack of sufficient caffeine in my system at this early hour :P

EBGames and GameStop merged about a year and a half to two years ago, so all you EB pre-orderers are just fine.

In fact, if you look at the EBGames website it says "powered by GameStop" right by the EB logo. And If I'm not mistaken, the websites for both EB and GS are damn near identical.

Interesting that the page says to visit a participating retailer, and lists Amazon among those. Anyone ever visited an Amazon store?Actually yes. Everytime you go to amazon.com, you are "visiting" an Amazon store, just like going to bestbuy.com is "visiting" one of theirs.

I'm still hesitant. I remember my Disturbed preorder with Best Buy. I never did get a code from them for the free song downloads. They did give me a $5 credit that I used towards a point card, so I did get the songs for free. But in a situation like this, that would be no consolation.

I want to be SURE I'm getting a code.

That was just the (broken) front page http://www.beatlesrockband.com/ and those are just the companies associated with the game. Pretty sure Abbey Road Studios aren't going to start selling video games. Do note the word "including" on the page.

At least they've fixed the address of the page now, if not the links to the stores.

Preordering is free at the likes of amazon, and you can cancel any time before they ship it. The problem is nobody knew anything about if/when they were getting codes even if they'd paid $5 at what turned out to be a participating retailer. And $5 not worth spending IMO unless you get very good bonuses (that can't be shared on forums!) or maybe to guarantee the hardware bundle.

The Rickenbacker 325 and Gretsch Duo Jet guitars are hailed as two of the signature, most celebrated instruments played by John Lennon and George Harrison throughout their careers, respectively. 1. The Beatles: Rock Band Pre-Order Club in Europe is slated to go live later this month. Consumers should check with their local EU retailers with regards to exact launch dates.
2. If you have already preordered The Beatles: Rock Band, you will still be given a code to join beginning on May 5 or any time before game launch.

They can't put those already prepared PR details in the original email?! They can't get the web site link and codes working before sending the email and issuing the PR?!

Ah well at least someone's remembered Europe. Got my amazon.co.uk preorder in (for just the game, no hardware on there yet) to cancel later probably. That's the price for both guitars then? If this game really supports all 3 guitars, drums and the multiple vocal parts simultaneously (you know, like The Beatles instead of like Rock Band) then that's amazing and I wish I had a spare £340£430?! and 3 friends.

Actually, I don't think so. While the wording is ambiguous, I think the two standalone guitars will be $100 each. I initially thought that was too expensive and that it might be a 2-guitar set, but given the cost of the bundle ($250 for bass, drums, mic and game), it seems unlikely that you would be able to buy two guitars for effectively $50 each, especially given the painstaking detail in those guitars.

But this does mean, thankfully, that those who don't want two more guitar controllers can choose to get just one... Now if only we can choose, if we don't want both, that is.

Hmm it does read a bit ambiguously... I assumed if g+d+m+ms was $250 then 2xg for $100 would be about right?

And two lips mics would do. Or your existing Rb1/RB2/othergame mic(s). And stands are pretty cheap.

Well I got the first two GH controllers and the one from GHII for the 360. Then I got the one for the RB1 bundle, it broke 3 times and can't send it back. Now I use the one for the WT bundle and it doesn't up strum well.

Hopefully it won't matter when you join, and all the info will be available once you're able to jump in.

Me? I'm definately going to Best Buy for this pre-order.

Normally I'd do Amazon but Amazon doesn't do free shipping to Hawaii (where I'm moving). I wonder if there's a Best Buy on Oahu? I'd rather buy it from them than Gamestop. *looks* Oooh, there's 2. Nice. I'll pre-order from Best Buy then if I can do it in-store. If not I guess I'll have to wait for release day.

Gamestop gave out the code to me via the telephone once I confirmed who I was and that I had it ordered.

The code seemed generic, considering parts of it were the date it was coming out, but also it seemed to indicate that WHERE you purchased it from (GS = Gamestop as part of the code), so I wonder in the future if their will be exclusive info for various retailers. I hope not.

Anyway, I don't want to give out the code in case it IS set to my account only, but it's just the same information that has been posted and the same pictures.

So there's really four choices here:

a) Buy disc only, and play with your existing instruments.
b) Buy the $250 bundle, and get the Hofner and drums.
c) Buy the $99 bundle, and get the Rick and the Gretsch.
d) Drop $350 for the whole kit.

Personally, I'm leaning towards (c) now....what about everyone else?

I fixed that for you. It's 99 a piece.

Do have to admit the Gretsch looks really awesome. I'm in Europe so I still haven't got my hands on RB2 equipment. I'm heading to NY this June, though and was thinking to pick up a Sunburst Strat there but now I'm not so sure. This looks like a very kick-ass guitar. Any chance of some guitar bundles in the future?

Am i blind, or am i just not seeing the effects toggle switch on Harrison's Gretsch? I see it on Lennon's.

Also, i noticed that the XBOX guide button is located on the bottom of the Gretsch...that is enough to make me turn away from that controller, as i only ever sit when i play and i don't need to accidentally hit the guide button mid-song.

European launch is later this month...

(1)The Beatles: Rock Band Pre-Order Club in Europe is slated to go live later this month. Consumers should check with their local EU retailers with regards to exact launch dates.

(2) If you have already preordered The Beatles: Rock Band, you will still be given a code to join beginning on May 5 or any time before game launch.

Possible. I would have thought that the Hofner bass is 'large scale' because the bass itself is quite small compared to normal guitars? So the 'larger scale' will mean it's similar sized to all our other plastic RB guitars.

I thought basses in general had to be bigger because of the physics of making lower noises?

Basses are often larger than guitars, but not always. Case in point: Paul's Hofner. It has a small, hollow body, making it much lighter than almost any other bass I've tried. I own a real Hofner based (bassed?) on Paul's.

I meant that Paul's specific bass (from memory - so could be way off) is on the small side for a guitar/bass

Wrong.

Bundle - $250.00
Lennon Rickenbacker - $99.099
Harrison Gretsch - $99.99

Total Price = $449.98

Of course if we assume that the alleged 3-part harmony is TRUE, than you'd need 2 other Microphones and microphone stands, say another $80.00 bucks for good ones.

Not to mention another $500 for the inevitable Beatles DLC.

Have you seen the pictures? These are premium detailed replicas. Yes, plastic game controller replicas, but there is far more than a "Gretsch" sticker. These guitars had to be designed and engineered from scratch. I'd think you had a point if these were redecorated Strats, but the mark-up is only $30 off a wireless Strat. For the brand-new bodies, chrome accessories, and reconfigured and replica accurate control knobs, I'm fine. This is basically a premium guitar controller. Its not a product for everyone, but I'm sure tempted. I'm getting the Duo Jet, that's for sure, and that Rickenbacker looks mighty pretty.

Gamestop gave out the code to me via the telephone once I confirmed who I was and that I had it ordered.

The code seemed generic, considering parts of it were the date it was coming out, but also it seemed to indicate that WHERE you purchased it from (GS = Gamestop as part of the code)

Anyone else wanna compare the codes? Does anyone elses end in a very important set of three digits and start with GS?

yup... GSS then 3, then three important ones

Seriously guys, does someone want to man up and just post the code? There's nothing any of us can do with it besides access the site. Save us all the trouble of preordering and post the code. Please. Thank you.

Has anyone tried to preorder in a Best Buy Store? Is my lame Best Buy the only one without preorders? I was so excited to get my preorder, and was shot down.

Their website has it for preorder, but it doesn't have the boxed set for the Wii, just the game.

Yeah, I don't want to get it through the website, because then I can't pick it up at the store on Sept 9. Preorder is shipping only. I asked. Oh well, I'll wait a few weeks and try again.

well, i just pre-ordered from GameStop, and got a 16 digit order number, but no 'pre-order code' of 9 digits...

This almost happened to me. Right after I ordered it, I looked for a code. There was none. So, I went back and asked about it. Lucky for me, the manager had just got back to the counter. The guy I was with looked like a deer in head lights. The manager looked around and found a nice, new stack of cards and got one, just for me. It looked like the cards had just came in, so I was lucky to be at the right place at the right time.

In your case, I would go back to the store with your recipt, and ask for one of the cards. Hopefully, you will get one.

This isn't a club. It's a promotional gimmick to boost the number of preorders for Harmonix. Someone is going to post the code on some website sometime in the next couple of days. If I had the code, I'd want to be the one that did it first.

then it sounds like you need to go pre-order at gamestop, amazon, or some other place that is FREE and get a code so you CAN be first....

add to that previous posts have all but provided the code and someone who wasnt a lazy SOB would be able to figure it out on their own.

I tried pre-ordering Beatles RB from amazon the other day. Apparently amazon only ship games to Australia using priority courier, which would set me back $50!!? What!?!?

I've shown I'm not at all lazy in working out this pre-order stuff if you check the thread, in fact I've shown I spent a worrying about of time being obsessive about it, but I couldn't work out the solution to people's code riddles! 3 important numbers, huh?

And I have pre-ordered on amazon.co.uk which means I will be eligible for a code at some point in the future. Oh and I've seen the two pics of guitars so I guess I'm not missing anything.

Careful now, it's probably region locked on some consoles, and awkwardly forces you to use the disc region's own DLC store for other consoles. Make sure you research this if you actually plan to pre-order an import.

That was my part about "awkwardly forces you to use the disc region's own DLC store". Maybe that's no longer true or sa_nick knows that already or it doesn't make much difference anyway if there's not going to be a local DLC store in Australia, but I know Euro PS3 owners had DLC troubles.

The game is not, DLC are. You can play the US DLC with a US version of the game. You can not play US DLC with a European version of the game.

I preordered mine at GameStop on April 30...got home..no code...went back and asked and the guy told me to call GS customer service. They said they'd email me the code in 3-5 business days...This was Tuesday. So alas I wait. This promotion was not orchestrated very well at all IMO. I'm glad to see I'm not the only geek who wanted the code so bad they contacted customer service. lol.

From what i can tell, based on the decision to release both Beatles guitars, the bass, the drum and a mic stand. As well as a strong indication that the mics will be used along side the guitars, not in place of,, I feel there may be a chance that all three guitar/bass controllers will be able to be used in the game at once. Now that is what I call a full band experience.

Gypsy, right now it's the pics of the Rickenbacker and Gretsch, along with the press release that hmxsean posted yesterday.

At first I thought that was very unlikely, but evidence is starting to line up in its favor. I can also imagine that, with Paul McCartney getting so involved, that if they tried to chart both John and George's guitars to one alternating track like they usually do, he'd say "No no that's not right." :)

If that is true... which it may be... now I can see why The Beatles will not work with RB2.

There will be three vocals charted somehow. Three guitars charted. And the drum track.

That is going to be a crowded screen!

Still hoping we will be able to transfer from RB2 to The Beatles somehow...

Even if they split the two guitar parts I don't think it would be hard to re-combine them.

On GH2, if you played 2 player and the option was rythm not base, the part would basically be split, then recombined if you went into 1 player. HMX has done this before, so it seems likely that they could do it here too.

If you imported, it would likely be easy to just have the lead vocal track be playable in RB2 (i.e. you loose any multi-vocal compatability if you import into RB2).

I think lack of cross compatibility due to these factors would be a business decision and not a technical one. But if that's what it took to get the biggest rock band ever...I guess we'll have to live with it.

Personally, I'm hoping that all RB products (RB1, RB2, RB:TB, RB:L) will at least be exportable into RB3 if they arn't into RB2. I'd be willing to pay 3 - 5 times more than the RB1 import fee to be able to do this into RB2.

i dont like the rickenbacker... imo the four knobs are not well placed and the colors are wrong...why have a brown neck when it was more golden and why have a white faceplate when once again it was golden ?

You are thinking of his first Ricky - a 1958 325 Capri (with honey fret, gold control plate and rotary knobs) after he had it finished in black (in 1962) to match Harrison's Gretsch Duo Jet (it was originally natural/honey). Sean Lennon owns this guitar.

He also owned a second Rickenbacker, a 1964 325 that was black and white with the same (burns) knobs and as the Rockband version (it was first used on A Hard Day's Night).

Rickenbacker reproduced this guitar as the 325C63.

Here's John's original and the Rockband version together...

Not only that, but if the drums add CYMBALS its really gonna get complicated! Only big screens are gonna handle it!

Actually, the rythum will only be simple cord changes most of the time, so it may not be as hard as some think.

I also agree that everything learned from RB2, and whatever they put in RBB will be added to RB3, making it the PREMIER game!

Now only if they stay away from that STUPID recording studio that
GHWT has.............what a crock that is! Midis! eech!
