So I tried this whole sing and play at the same time thing and it worked pretty well for me on expert. I passed my trial song, 'Say it ain't so", but it didn't give me any more fans! What gives? i searched for this topic, but didn't find it anywhere. If anyone can clarify I'd really appreciate it. Thanks....

I had the same thing happen. I think it is because I played in a small venue place where I had already played and received fans.

Not sure though.

How many stars did you get? If you didn't 'perform' well enough, and it's a small venue, then you won't get any more fans.

From my experience, you have to get 5 stars on Expert to receive a single fan. Anything less and you get nada.

My band did some Hard songs after being under the medium cap for a while. "You have not gained any fans" which is distinct from the usual "You have gained 0 fans, play at a harder difficulty to gain more fans!" message.

This left us scratching our heads. Was the venue too small? Was it because we had ticked that set list off before? Was it because we only got 3 or 4 stars? It would seem that not only do you have to go from medium to hard to get more fans but you might also have to do the harder songs from the harder set lists in the bigger venues, making the fan gain gap between playing medium and hard even wider than previously thought.

If you play in a place you've already played at multiple times, chances are you'll gain no fans.

If you don't do better than a previous time there, chances are you'll gain no fans.

Sounds like anti farming to me. Wouldn't be a bad idea.

I've never received no fans that didn't have something to do with the cap. But anytime we play on Hard, we're doing something with a "New" next to it, so that would coincide with what you're saying.

That was the first time we played that set on hard though. The check marks before was black (easy) or orange (medium) and then when we finished (with 4-freaking amazing stars!) it was a white check mark (hard).

Surely the devs aren't so thick as to consider a venue "tapped" of fans for playing it on easy and getting 5 stars and not allowing a hearts-out performance on hard that gets 4 stars to be unworthy of fans.

Do I really have to play both a harder difficulty and a bleeding edge set to get some more fans?

Thanks to everyone for their insight. I've gotten 5 stars on hard, but when I jumped to Expert I only got 4. I guess in a strange way that explains it.....sort of......
