Hey all,
I have been under the impression that if I download my DLC onto someone else's 360, it will only show up in their list of songs if I sign in. I actually tested this a few months ago, and my song did not show up in my friend's list if I was not signed in.
Now all of my friends are complaining that my songs are showing up in their list, but if they try to play them they get a "The song data you were accessing has become unavailable" error message. This really screws up the game, especially in the middle of a Mystery Setlist.
Anyone else remember that DLC used to disappear? Or was I hallucinating?
Update: The file to delete is in the "Rock Band 2" folder and is called "Rock Band 2 Song Cache". After deleting this file, you may need to reboot the 360 (because the file can be held in memory so the fix will seem like it didn't work.)

There was a patch that came out a while back that was designed to reduce the "Loading Additional Content" time when you started up the game. The fix for that was to create a cache file on the Xbox HDD that contained the data for all the songs you downloaded.
Prior to that cache file, each DLC song was validated every time you started up the game. But now that validation data is cached in that file. So when you downloaded a song onto your friend's Xbox, the validation was cached, so the song shows up in their song list. But when they actually go to play it, the Xbox itself won't let them because their gamertag doesn't own it.
The solution is to have them go into the HDD through the dashboard and delete the Rock Band Downloaded Song Data file. Next time they start the game, it will go out to validate each song they actually own, and yours won't show up on their list anymore.

Thanks davidshek! Sounds like that will fix the problem. I will pass along the info and let you know how it goes.
