Mine isn't because of Rock Band. I played percussion in my earlier years and already play guitar. I am just trying to broaden my musical horizons. I think RB lays a good coordination foundation, though.

I don't have the money for a drum set (a good one anyways), so Rock Band is counting as my drum set. And it's pretty nice.

That doesn't mean Rock Band can't get you interested in drums.

^^ what Atsumi said

And this is the first report of it I've heard! *thumbs up!* I'm sure we'll hear more of it down the road as non-drummers work their way through the difficulties and eventually feel compelled to get a real set. So, what did you decide to buy?

You may be right. But it does teach you how to keep a in time with music and to use different body parts at the same time. Which, correct me if I am wrong, is what you would learn in the beginning anyway. I can already play a couple of songs on expert so I figured I might actually be able to play the drums. I have been meaning to broaden my horizons so to speak. I already play the guitar, a little on the keyboards, and now hopefully drums.

Well I didn't fork out the money for a pearl, but I will eventually. I just bought a somewhat cheap 5pc set off of eBay. Gammon I believe. Came with a throne and set of sticks... basically everything just to get me started.

I'd take anything that guy says with a grain of salt, hell he can't even spell incompetent correctly and that fact he has troll in his user id.

If you can play the drums in rockband on hard/expert well, you should be able to pick up the drums! Shoot, I believe that's what one of the things one of the producers said about the game.

If a game can make you interested in playing an actualy instrument, then more power to the person and the game.

Just my .02 cents.

Not really, though. My friend is a sick nasty drummer and he got raped by Rock Band, even now and he's played a few times. Not a problem with it getting you interested in drums though, it caused me to want to wail on my friend's drums with intensity.

Why is this? i have no rythm to play an instrument. playing drums on Rock Band which i couldnt even get on easy. Im playing some on hard. which means ive been through the rythm levels now its the combos and rythm changes mid stream.

now i went to friends house and while not the best i can play with drum times. snare high hat was easy now.

so yes following dots and playing freely on drums is not the same but think of it as training and as i memorize the songs i will be able to play them on drums.

so like he stated before why not get into drums if rockband feels so comfortable when drums looked so intemidating. This isnt guitar hero when i got to expert i still cant play a lick on a real guitar or how it even works. Drums are drums its all about stance and timing. letting your muscles play the music not your mind.

Since getting rock band I've met 2 people who play the drums, one who's been playing for 10 years and another who just plays it lightly, they both sucked on medium, but after 1~3 songs on medium they jumped to hard/expert and nail songs first try 86%~90%+

I bought a guitar after getting GH1. I can play tons of songs on it. I now have four guitars and an awesome tube amp with a way over a grand in pedals and crap. I expect I will likely get a drum set too at some point. The drum machine I have to play along with just doesn't fill the needs.
