We all obviously have our different tastes in music and you have clearly done a great job in supplying us with a diverse and fun set of music to enjoy already. But, can you tell us if there are bands out there that you can't put in the game for any reason (expense, legal, etc.) or that you just find will not work. If we are never going to see the Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Pearl Jam, or any of the other highly requested bands, I'd love to know. And, why.
I can't wait to hear what's coming for DLC after December 18...

Good point. I want to know if I should stop screaming for Led Zeppelin.
But Pearl Jam is possible, since they got into GH3. So let's scream, "Ten" or "Versus" for DLC.

I love Zep but knowing how difficult Jimmy Page can be as far as licensing songs, I think there is almost no chance that Zep will be in the game.
We know from interviews that Harmonix has talked with ACDC and Zep. Based on the fact that they are still not in the game I would think there is a large issue that needs to be resolved.
On another note, have we ever heard why Hendrix is not in the game? He's a guitar/rock icon but his name seems to never pop up.

Did anyone else see the game, SNF I think it was, 'sponsored' by Zepplin this last week...talk about wow. Every break was a snip of one of their songs coming out on Motherload(is that it?).
I could only hang my head and wish...

Well, Led Zeppelin, maybe not, but what about Dread Zeppelin (http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewAlbum?id=264621619&s=143441)?

I think we should really be asking each other what songs we should stop asking for, as a community, and less about what we should stop begging for. I don't think we really need anymore threads about "new rock" bands that should "totally be in Rock Band."
If any of that stuff ever actually made it into the DLC then I would just be happy that I'm not forced to play it.

For the same reason Spanish Castle Magic didn't have vocals in GHI. I don't think anyone wants to attempt a Hendrix impression. And of course, there's hardly any chance of getting masters for Jimi.

With Hendrix and others that have past away, I would imagine that there could still be masters available. Since someone must own the rights to them if they exist. If not that would explain it.

ok, so there wasn't logic behind... just based on how they look. i thought he meant music wise... in that case, one could infer pete townshend is a businessman based on your pic in your signature :p
To keep this from becoming a flamewar instead of an actual topic... I think if you search threads and there are 5 topics and and a poll about an artist; i think HMX gets the idea that you'd like to see them in the game :D

From what I had read, the reason SCM had no vocals was at a request from the Hendrix family.
It WAS originally covered with vocals, but the vocal track was removed before release.

My guess is the Beatles are a copyright nightmare. And Led Zeppelin hasn't had any songs on any prior game (as far as I know), so we can probably bank on not seeing them. But, any band that's been in prior games should be available. Except a band involving Morello or Slash.
Does this sound right?

It was the Patriots-Ravens game. Ya, every song they played was Zeppelin. and btw, it's Mothership.

2. Led Zeppelin
3. Eric Clapton
4. Cream
5. Lynyrd Skynyrd
6. Dylan
7. Van Halen
8. The Who
9. Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers
10. The Doobie Brothers

it's not necessarilly which bands to stop asking for but which songs to not ask for. With this game being tied to EA you should expect any song that has explicit or suggestive lyrics to make it the game with out being changed. one example already in the game is "Sabatoge" by the Beastie Boys. there's a point in the lyrics that is an akward pause where the f-bomb would have been used. undestrandable why that was removed.
Another example is "The Beast and the Harlot" by Avenge Sevenfold. In Guitar Hero 2, done by harmonix, the song is in the game in its entirity and all the lyrics are present. However in EA's game, Burnout Revenge, the song is listed as "Beast..." and has a lot of the lyrics chopped out because of the nature of said lyrics (http://http://www.plyrics.com/lyrics/avengedsevenfold/beastandtheharlot.html).

Alright, so no explicit lyrics, masters must be available and the owner of the rights to the songs have to agree. What songs/bands fall into these categories.
