View Full Version : Bands that should be included eventually.
I represent the more "indie" crowd of music, and I would love to see that genre of music address a bit more.
Where is the Circa Survive? On letting Go is a fantastic albunm for Rockband, I'd suggest almost any song from it for the game.
What about some Minus the Bear? Specifically some of their older songs off Highly Refined Pirates and Menos el Oso (Absinthe after dinner and Pachua Sunrise anyone?)
The Go! Team would fit great, and her lyrics are fun and energizing (My pick would be Grip like a Vice, but that's just me. about 75% of the stuff on proof of youth would be great)
Architecture in Helsinki would be a great fit too (In particular the CD "In Case We Die", Do the Whirlwind could be great)
The Decemberists would be a great choice (Picareque and the Crane Wife)
Melee wouldn't be a bad choice either (Off their older CD though, Everyday Behavior, Mestizo's Love Song)
Spoon, the benchmark of modern-indie music (Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga is probably a better known CD, You got your cherry bomb being the best known song from it)
Voxtrot would be a great pick if you could get The Start of Something off their EP Saved by Wolves. It has a better style and is better to sing than some of their other music
Two Gallants are raising in popularity too, Despite What You've Been Told is a great song with good guitar work.
Tokyo Police Club! Not very well known but Cheer it On would be a great song to play on gutiar and sing
The sleeping are a great choice too, but do something less stereotypical, like fleet from Believe what we tell you.
Maybe some fall of troy? The guitar work is a lot of fun, and almost any song by them could be good. Manipulator has less screaming than the doppleganger CD, so it may be better to get a song from there.
And lastly, what about some Arctic Monkeys? They're one of the hottest indie bands over in the UK, and deserve at least a song.
That's all I've got, but I hope I opened up the doors to some lesser known music. Rockband has a lot of potential for more than just progressive rock that guitar hero seems to target.

Honestly, I was going to nit-pick but I really can't complain with any of these suggestions. I would love to see more bands of music that I really enjoy but would also translate well into the game. While I don't really see The Decemberists in the game I shouldn't nay-say it. I would really just like to see the floodgates open on this genre as I would download every single pack!
Good to see similar music tastes here!
Well the decemberists are a bit of a stretch, but they put in the Yeah Yeah Yeah's (which I was pumped about! maps is such a good song) so I don't see why not. Push the envelope a bit, and even with picaresque it would still have a rock feel to it

I would love more Yeah Yeah Yeahs, honestly! Gold Lion would be an awesome song to include! That's why I wasn't going to criticize to much because with entries like The Decemberists would open it up for other great indie bands.
I also wouldn't mind seeing some paulson (miami currents from all at once!), and maybe some thursday? (5 4 3 2 1)

'X Japan'. The fact that they made the SAW IV OST, but haven't hit into any guitar games is a travesty. Granted, no one knows about them stateside, but they're one of the largest Japanese Rock/Metal bands in history, and definitely deserve a spot in Rock Band if only because they're literally a classic band.

what about the shins or cloud cult i think both of these bands would b great for rock band.
what about the shins or cloud cult i think both of these bands would b great for rock band.
I thought about cloud cult, they are one of my more favorite bands, but i couldn't decide on a really good song for them, they don't have any really whimsical fun songs that you'd expect from the game (Your 8th birthday is a good example, it's a really sad song) My first choice was Take Your Medicine off The Meaning of 8 (my personal favorite song, but I dunno if the guitar work is strong enough to make it), but God is Good and Your 8th birthday would also be good choices. breakfast with my shadow, chandeliers and Washed Your Car from Aurora Borealis would be great choices too.
I would also LOVE to see some Tegan and Sara. Where's the "You wouldn't like me" off So Jealous and "The Con" off The Con. There are plenty of other amazing songs to put in a set for them too.
Common, show your support for indie music! We need to see more of it on the game :D

minus the bear is an amazing band, pachuca sunrise, fulfill the dream, the fix, drilling, might as well put all of menos el oso in the game. knights would also be a really fun song to play. i also second tfot and tegan and sara, voxtrot would also be pretty good (mothers daughters sisters wives).

theres always Please Remain calm, Brain Gateway, 2x2x2, Moving to Canada, maybe Pretty Voices, and u can't forget Chemicals Collide. I also think they could use Thanks and Alien Christ.

They definitely should put on Far-Less. I think if they put all of their new album it'd be AMAZING. Also The Number Twelve Looks Like You would be very fun.
no offense, but I don't see the number 12 ever being put in. Reason being, the vocals are kind of obnoxious, the guitar is only mildly good, and the drums have a double base pedal. But I would love to see a song along those lines put in, maybe a fear before song?
Please remain calm would actually be a really good song though! Brain Gateway too. Chemicals collide is another one of my favorites, but I think it's just cause the intro is so bouncy. Going to Canada is most likely the one they'd put on, because the general public would like it more, but i think they should include others for us Cloud Cult enthusiasts. Advice from the Happy Hippopotamus is their worst CD imo.
My only gripe about silversun pickups is her voice is REALLY difficult, but I guess if they can put courtney love in there they can put anyone.

I agree with all bands mentioned in this thread, especially Cloud Cult. They already started bringing the indie in, let's see some more. How about Spoon? They'd be great across the board. I Turn my Camera on, funky bass, drum, and guitar... Some full-on vocals too.
BUT, Tokyo Police Club is well known over here, (New York). I generally see them as a newer version of The Strokes.

Considering the sheer amount of indie that has become more mainstream thanks to the whole "EA Trax" marketing that EA has done (and now I think it's not as intrusive as "EA Trax"), I wouldn't be surprised EA could help Harmonix pull this off.
Not to mention the fact that MTV is involved...
My personal favorites: The Mars Volta and Tokyo Police Club.
I didn't even think of the mars volta, that would be awesome

I think Spoon is the only one of these that would work. They're a true rock band.

Take A Walk

Finer Feelings

And more fun crazy stuff like Epic and Ballroom Blitz.

Heh. I made the same mistake with the guy from Thunderbirds Are Now!. I already mentioned most of my suggestions here (http://community.rockband.com/vbforum/showthread.php?t=8029), but I'll repeat Clap Your Hands Say Yeah; Dirty On Purpose; Modest Mouse; ¡Forward, Russia!; Polaris (the Adventures of Pete & Pete house band); The Apples In Stereo; and as much as many people hate them there are Death Cab For Cutie songs that could fit.
We really should create a condensed list of indie music that HMX should consider, with my list and mind in rewind we can have a pretty extensive list of things they should add.

Three songs I wish they would add:
You've Got Another Thing Coming - Judas Priest
Baba O'Reilly - The Who

this is Rock Band I mean yes it is pretty vague on description, yet I think the majority would like to see songs from rock bands that are more popular. Not dissin' the Indie Category, but if I am rocking out on the drums, that song by the Yeah yeah yeahs isn't the song I am looking for next.
Ultimately, what you like to jam to is music you enjoy, despite a few songs that might have bad guitar/drum lines. And that's more or less what we're asking -- music we can enjoy and play with friends.
That's why it's perfect for downloadable content -- I would never claim that everyone would be into circa survive or the yeah yeah yeahs, or they make the quintessential Rock Band song, but they are entirely optional to have and there for those who enjoy them to just make their Rock Band experience that much better.

No to mars volta on the following grounds:
Does it hurt when “glossolalia coats your skin?” Where can I find a nice new pair of “unkempt nourishment plows?” What are “castrating kisses stalactite stems?” I certainly don’t know, and neither do the members of Mars Volta who wrote these lyrics.
With their most recent album, this band version of that smart@$$ kid in school who wouldn’t shut up in class furnishes us with 16-minute epics of squealing bullsh!t. After a few years of fooling 15-year old stoners with their endless prog jams and lyrics written by randomly picking words from the answers to yesterday’s New York Times crossword puzzle, someone finally caught on to their charade and literally peed on them:
Article from cracked or possibly double viking.
Another note when they said someone literally peed on them, you acn look the vid for that up. During some live show.
