Did you find that the new drum set was much improved over your faulty one?
I have a drumset in which if you keep hitting the same pad continuously it won't recognize a hit every once and a while. This happens with all the pads. I'm wondering if this is just a design flaw or it's faulty. I was able to get up to 97 percent on one of the songs but that was on medium and I imagine this problem would only cause more problems in harder difficulties.

my replacement set was greatly improved over the original. i still think it's missing sometimes, but not nearly to the degree it was before. before i could rarely ever get a 4x multiplier going, and if i did get lucky enough to get to 4x, i would lose it almost immediately. with my new set, i can get 4x multipliers frequently and keep them for some time. this is all on easy, mind you.

Wow, yours were really broken if easy didn't work!
There have been reports from a few EXPERT drummers on these boards that have received fully working improved drums and others who have received the original broken drums... same with the guitars. There doesn't appear to be a 100% replacement satisfaction yet.
The most difficult thing with drums are that they don't usually exhibit problems until you get to the rolling portions (mid-way through hard and EXPERT)... I have been playing since launch and only now got that far to discover that my drums don't work great. At first I thought it was my drummin ability until I started playing around in practice mode and could clearly see the rapid red hits not registering the middle of the pad.

Yeah, the problem I've seen on the drums (my roommate does the drums on expert) is when you get to the rolling sections, like on "Run to the Hills" where you have to roll on the same pad, and it just dosen't recognize the roll. It's like the pad dosen't rebound fast enough and it thinks it's just compressed the whole time. He's sitting there rolling and it's picking up like every 8th note or so. It's really bad. And he dosen't suck, we are both real musicians, he's a real drummer, I'm a real guitarist and I know he can drum "Run to the Hills" or just about any fast metal song out there.
Seems to me like the whole set needs to be redesigned, because I don't see how the current design can work. We are going to be needing a new drum set and a new guitar, but we are planning on waiting until the end of the 60 days, just incase they improve the products by then.

Yeah this bites. I was hoping to learn to play drums better with this but if it keeps screwing up I can't see how that could happen. I'll have to try the replacement set and my current one and see which works better I guess.

I got a replacement set and unfortunately my red pad still has the same issue. With sixteenth notes or faster it simply doesn;t recognize the hits. I may actually send back the replacement pads instead of my original. Need to call EA this week but have been slacking.
It doesn't screw up at all during grooves but any part with multiple snare drum hits/rolls becomes impossible to play perfectly. :(
Sidenote: I have been playing drums for 20 years and know the difference between when I screw up or the pad simply isn't recognizing a correct hit.

My replacement drums were worse than my original drums.
On my original drums, the red drum would not play fast notes. On the replacement drums, none of them will play fast notes.
I tried the tape method to see what that was about and it does make it so you can play fast notes. The problem with taping the pads down is that when you hit one pad it may trigger another pad when you don't want it too. This is because when they are taped down, the vibration of you striking the pad is transferred more easily through the set and can trigger another drum.
I can now see the problem with the design after this experiment. It is very difficult, with the current design, to have a single drum trigger and not affect another drum with 100% accuracy at all playing speeds and velocities.
