There certainly is. You can play competitions 1 on 1 vs another player using the same instrument as you online. Or, you can join up with other people playing other instruments and play cooperatively together.

Online play is supported by the PS3 and XBox 360 versions of Rock Band, but not the PS2 version (which is coming out soon).

Nate Finch is correct - although "cooperatively" is a bit misleading, since the Band World Tour, which is commonly referred to as our "cooperative" mode is not available online.

(I have to admit, mostly I just wanted to say that "Nate Finch" was correct again).

*lol* Awesome. :)

Well, quickplay is cooperative.... there's just no long-term goal other than rocking out together :)

But yes, we don't want to confuse people into thinking BWT is available online. (....yet, right?)

Bands that actually get tracked and go through the world tour can, at this time, only be played locally. There are rumors about an upcoming patch to enable them to play over the network, but nothing confirmed yet.

Just to clarify since he's new here--- you can still play with your clan members online, it's just you can't do WorldTour, meaning playing different venues in different cities around the world. But if you just want to have fun and rock out with buddies online, it is doable.

that is...assuming you get a working set of instruments on Christmas. Please do some more reading about the reliability and issues that these instruments have.

Don't count on rocking out too long before it breaks. Ask me and I'll tell you THE WORST sob story about this release. Mine.

Another sob story here, unfortunately. And we are by no means alone!

Hopefully, if the bundle that he gets for Xmas wasn't purchased until right before Xmas - he'll get the "New and Improved" peripherals. You know... the ones so many of us who got the game on 11/20 are still waiting for?
