2K Games has revealed the first details of the multiplayer modes of Bioshock 2. The multiplayer aspect of the game is being developed by Digital Extremes, the co-creators of the Unreal games, and here's what we can expect when this launches:
It's a prequel to the first game. Amazing! Set during the fall of the underwater city of Rapture, Bioshock 2 puts players in the place of experimental subjects testing out Plasmids and Tonics. This means gamers will get to see locations in Rapture before the city fell into ruin and sogginess. Love it. Locations mentioned include Kashmir Restaurant and Mercury Suites, all of which have been re-worked for multiplayer goodness.
Experience Points: According to 2K, players can gain experience points during gameplay to access new weapons, Plasmids and Tonics to create enough combination's to develop a new character.
"Extend the Rapture fiction": According to 2K, "Players will step into the shoes of Rapture citizens and learn more about the fall of Rapture as they progress though the experience."
I have to admit, when this game was first announced, I was not super-excited: I loved the first game so much, I didn't want to see it ruined, but since learning more about what Bioshock 2 is bringing to the table, I've changed my mind, and now, hearing the "plot" of the multiplayer and the involvement of multiplayer veterans at Digital Extremes, this title has moved up to the most-anticipated spot in my mind. I can only hope that part of the multiplayer will involve players participating in the riots and fights that took place as Rapture itself was crumbling. What about you? Are you psyched or what? What do you think of the multiplayer?
The game should be out by the end of the year on the PS3, 360 and PC. But while you wait, check out our all-access look at the game:

Well some people still don't know about the game though. Yet it's been said several times, i will admit that part was not needed in there. But whatever.

I'm still trying to get through the first game on Easy.. more like "DIE EVERY 30 SECONDS". **** those *** splicers.
I'm at the part where I have to photograph 3 spider splicers, so not very far.

Ugh, I hated the spider splicers more than anything.
Just wait until you get to the next level, they introduce some really awesome splicers there. :D

Multiplayer will be nice, hopefully a co-op aspect to the normal mode.
I didn't really get into the first one, but I did like the cool 40's style atmosphere. It reminded me of the Batman Animated Series, but with more gore :)

It was Ok. It, more than any game I've ever played, gets INCREDIBLY frustrating when you're stuck, so I just quit. Wasn't worth my time.
