Could anyone at Harmonix let me know if I should stop refreshing the announcements page so frequently? LOL You know lots of people are waiting for something to pop up there. :p

I am also on the near-constant refresh plan...

Will as the forums prove evident they're not getting many breaks.
Especially considering Sean is the community manager and everyone wants that new site. Remember you can't expect it all.

Well, now I guess I go back to my announcements board refreshing plan since the other threads are locked here again. :D

That's because there's a few people on this board that are extremely confrontational and can't seem to play nice with others. I think you'll notice a trend of which threads get locked. It's not so much subject that's causing it.

Please do. I can't think of a better way to slow down EVERYONE else trying to read other parts of the site.

Thanks!

Bah, all the images are cached, the only thing he's really doing is re-querying the database and pulling down some text. Not a huge drain on the forums.
I'm doing it too. Firefox has a way to set up automatic refreshes .... right click on the page and click Reload Every.... Try not to pick anything quicker than 30 seconds, though, we really don't want to overtax their servers by accident (it would just make the announcement come that much slower ;)).

Sean,
The servers would probably thank you if you edit your post in the other (locked) thread to something like "... when I get a chance late this afternoon at the earliest..." (or whatever time frame is involved).
My F5 key is bleeding now... :(

The images and php files (which "draw" these pages) are nothing compared to the load you put on the mySQL or other database server. Um .... huge load.
So in fact, you will put a strain on the 'site' for all that refreshing you are doing.

Don't worry. I don't have any intention of causing server problems. This message board seems to be performing fine. I've never had a problem with it.

Wow...so this guy is saying it's our fault for the delay of the announcement because we are refreshing our browsers????? That's truly unbelievable. And to the rep who said threads are being closed because people are getting unruly...well, yeah, duh, we are indeed very unruly! Any chance you might understand why, Harmonix? Also I started a thread without being unruly and it was shut down immediately.
Wow.

Unruly... well of course! I feel like a caged lion ready to strike here. There has been nothing but disappointment and frustration surrounding this game since it was launched. (not all you guys, of course)
But anyway, thanks Sean, for the reply, and I'll be looking forward to that announcement. Hopefully if you can't make an announcement, you can announce why there's a delay in making the announcement or possibly re-announce a new time for the announcement. :D

Lol...yes, please announce the official time for the announcement of the delay for the actual official announcement of the announcement time so we can all get on with our lives.
I can't believe some of these people getting upset about refreshing putting a strain on Harmonix's servers...poor Harmonix and their servers...waa waa. As for this "new site," how about we make sure the game works first? (exhausted from all the anger)

It couldn't have anything to do with the fact that your new thread duplicates information and requests in plenty of other threads already, could it? People need to learn that when there are 2-3 threads about something already, making a new thread is not the answer.

Not in their eyes.

Sadly, that will never happen.
And I couldn't get to add to the topic someone (trying to be cute) bumped in the Announcements forum before HMXJohnLok locked it so I'll add it here... or should I just start another topic? ;)
I'm all for removing posting rights in the Announcement forums. That should be a place for HMX announcements and not some "who can bump the most inappropriate topic to get a rise" game.
If the announcement can include a link to another topic here, in this subforum, where comments can be made about it, all the better.
Do I need to make a separate poll thread? :D

People wouldn't have to start new threads if they didn't lock down the Official Thread. So I guess you expect us to search all over the board for the thread with the most current info?
My god we still don't even know if this patch is going to solve the problem....

Has anyone heard anything concerning the update? I can't believe there wouldn't have been an update since last Friday.

Nothing... the other threads all keep get locked when anyone asks about the status.
I'm still refreshing at regular intervals. The longer this goes with no news, the worse this is IMO.

Remember when everyone was so quick to blame Activision? Well almost a whole week later we got a whole lot of NOTHING from HMX and everyone in between. I don't understand how there is absolutely NOTHING new that has happened since last Friday. No progress whatsoever? Ridiculous.

Well, it's hard for us to know if there has been any progress made because they won't tell us a thing.
It would be nice to at least know (yes/no) if there is any progress being made even if they can't tell us specifics. Right now, I'm lead to believe nothing is really happening. I see no results or progress.

Here's something interesting. I finally got a reply from Red Octane:
Hello,
Unfortunately, We are unable to answer any questions regarding the PS3 patch. Please contact Activision for more information as they might be able to answer this specific question.
Regards,
RedOctane Customer Support
www.RedOctane.com
I was replying to their previous note that stated the following:
Hello,
Thank you for writing us.
We are aware of the issue at hand and are looking into it. It was not something purposely designed for, but a situation that has arisen since the release of RockBand. Please have patience.
Regards,
RedOctane Customer Support

So again, we're back to Activision. That Activision rumour is sounding pretty accurate right now from where I sit. I honestly think Red Octane cooperated initially with this patch, and then Activision stuck their nose in and put and end to it.
