Cake vs. Pie?

Ok, so I've done this on a few other forums, and it's always been a good discussion, so I figured I'd try it out here (which is, for the record, the best forum I've been on).

Yeah , so, Cake or Pie, pretty straightforward question.
Personally, I prefer pit for a number of reasons -
1. The name of it sounds better, pie
2. Pies are, in general, more moist
3. A dry cake is gross, a dry pie can still be good
4. The different kinds are much more creative, like Banana Cream and Lemon Meringue, instead of Carrot and Vanilla.
5. You can't have a meat cake, that'd taste so nasty. Meat pie is delicious

To be honest, I'm not a big fan of Apple, might be my least favorite.

It's close, but I have to give the edge to pie. So many more varieties. Although you can eat a piece of cake with your hands, whereas doing that with pie would make a huge mess. I think cheesecake is actually more pie-like than cake-like, despite the name. I also think cheesecake is one of the best desserts ever.

Seriously, I like cake better because I like to decorate my baked goods. Cakes are much easier to decorate than pies. Cakes are easier to make, too. I hate rolling out pie crust.

I have good news for you my friend! Cheesecake is, in fact, pie! Custard pie to be exact. It is a cream cheese based custard inside of a crust, that is by definition pie. So your aunt's cheesecake does not contradict your assertion that pie is better!

I voted for pie cause I like it better in general but I am a big fan of certain cakes too, especially tres leches cake, it is delicious.

While it is true that you can have a meat pie and not a meat cake, you can have a birthday cake but not a birthday pie.

I've also never had an ice cream pie, and frozen pies aren't as awesome as freshly baked pies... Frozen cakes are still good.

And while cheesecake isn't technically a cake from what I recall, it holds the name cake. Cheesecake > both. (unless it's technically a pie.. I think it's a custard or something?)

I had a birthday pie for my last birthday. I'm the designated baker for my family, so I always bake cakes for everyone on their birthday. I didn't feel like baking for mine, so I had a friend make me an apple-walnut-caramel pie. It was fantastic.
