So we bought rock band YESTERDAY and after 10 hours of consecutive playing, the kick pedal snapped in half like so many others have already posted. But then Jesus came and fixed it somehow.
Instructions:
1. Steal 4 knives from your nearest college dining hall
2. Steal a roll of duct tape from room mate
3. ???
4. Profit

This is actually a pretty decent idea if you're playing with shoes on.. but I think that'd kill my sock foot after a while.

Our drummer has been playing with socks on for a while now and he's fine.

All I can say is that my replacement pedal should be here Friday or Monday. It's already been shipped according to ups tracking and I just called on Tuesday. In the meantime, duct tape is man's best friend! :D

We're supposed to get a replacement one as well but we just couldn't wait 2 whole weeks (especially since we played it for only 1 day) so we were desperate for ideas.
Anyways, after a full night of rocking out on the modded drum set, it's still quite sturdy. Our drummer even says it feels nicer than before because of the added weight.

If the break is because of the faulty design, then yes. If you broke it because you were throwing it up against a wall or using a sledgehammer to push the pedal down then no.

Well we had the drum pedal for less than 24 hours and it broke. Obviously we didn't WANT to break it so the design is faulty or we got a particularly weak pedal. Either way we deserve a new one that doesn't have knives duct-taped to it.

Has anyone had their kick pedal replaced and sent in one that was broken in half? Mine broke too and before I request the replacement and have the 125.00 handling fee charged I want to make sure they dont keep that money once they recieve a broken pedal.

It's not a $125 handling fee that they charge. It is a Hold that they put on your account. Very different than an actual charge.
Google 'credit card hold' if you want the full details on what this actually is. They're not charging your account. It basically just reserves that amount of money to make sure it is available in the future IN CASE they have to charge it then. This does reduce the amount of available credit (or funds, if it's a debit card) in your account, but is not an actual charge (yet).
Since there's no money yet for them to 'keep', your question is invalid. :)
When they receive your broken pedal, they'll remove the Hold.

They did not request the old pedal back.
They know there is a problem.
I recieved my first one, and it came with no return shipping papers or instructions to do so.
Reinforce the new one before it breaks, and it will last forever.
Thats too bad they didn't request it. Might give them some ideas to send in your old "reinforced with duct tape and kitchen knives" pedal. At the very least it would sure give someone a laugh down there.

I stand corrected, the first pedal that arrived, they did not want back, the second on that arrived today has the return label with it, so they will be getting it back, epoxy and all.
I repaired mine with epoxy and a flat "L" bracket.

To have a picture of the guy as he opens the returned kick pedal box put back together with butter knives...oh how that would be a good one for a Christmas Party.

I've done a similar thing using popsicle sticks on the underside (because most of the force to break it is under it) and a crap ton of duct tape. I'm hoping it doesn't void my warranty as I've just recieved a new pedal. Should I ship it with all the tape and sticks on it?

Yep! Our band <3's leakfrogs (we had 3 total at the time of the photo but we ordered 2 more during the recent woot-off!)

My pedal is cracked like most of you guys too. But when I go to the EA warranty page, cracked pedal isn't an option, just weather it springs back or not. Tecnically it springs back, but I know it won't last if I continue to put stress on the pedal. Should I just say that it won't spring back and send it?

I was just told to call the number and tell them what happened, and they should send you a replacement pedal, I'm probably going to do that either today or tomorrow, since mine snapped last night.

Has anyone tried using their toes (your big one and your 2nd toe) to grab/clench the top half of the pedal and then tap down on the sensor? It worked fine for me.
Basically, remove the spring, then align the broken half of the pedal with the bottom half. Then make sure the two plastic balls are touching the right spots/censors(?). Then make like a monkey and grab that sh**... actually it doesn't require that much force to grab it with your toes. Keep your heel down and you should be fine. It feels kinda weird at first but you'll get used to it. Kinda easier for harder songs too since it requires like leg/thigh power.
Lemme know if this works for ya'll.
