So, the game launched missing a few advertised points (PS3 controller compatibility, community site, online BWT). Has it effected your enjoyment of it?
For me, it's not a huge deal. It irks me, but I've been having so much fun with what is there, that I don't think about those things too often. Mostly only think about them at work, when I can't play. So, while I'd prefer them now, I figure it's a few weeks, maybe months, before I start really wanting them. How about you all?

The game has far exceeded any expectations I've had.
It most certainly took the music game genre to a completely new level. I can't imagine spending money on a game like "Guitar Hero 4" if it doesn't completely revamp what they've done.
Basically.. Harmonix has taken "button mashing rythym games" and given them a roleplay aspect.
I think it's a great marriage between music and gaming and I look forward to what innovations come over the next few years.

yea dude me and my friends had so much hype before it came out and then we played the demo in portland it was sweet and we got so excited. then we played the demo's at bestbuy and we didnt want to admit it but it got boring after playing for 30mins to an hour and then we were scared when the game came out it wasn't going to be as much fun as we thought. but then bam! it was even more fun than we imagined and i remember laughing and stuff smiling about how much fun we were having. i think it had a lot to do with playing with 4 players, the multiplayer experience get better and better with more people.

I can honestly never see myself getting bored with this game as long as new DLC keeps being made available. The already sparse DLC for Guitar Hero games (so far) always fades away quickly so there's not much to hold my attention. I still haven't even seen half of the locations in Band World Tour. This game is everything I thought it would be and more, and I can't wait for the PS3 patch so that I can finally try the game with a 4-person band.

The game itself is more than I hoped for.
The peripherals have been a disappointment for me, primarily because the purported Les Paul compatibility didn't happen and I've had to deal with two defective Strats.

I'm not the uber researcher, so I was kinda surprised with the fact there is no online tour. Based on what I heard, I thought that was kinda the whole idea of the game. That said, I'm still really happy with it.
They replaced my broken guitar fairly quickly, and offered a free game to make up for the delay, so even if it wasn't perfect you can see they are trying.
The best part though, is that while no one else in my family was interested in Guitar Hero, they are all into Rock Band. My Wife can sing, my bro is on the guitar, and I'm learning drums because of it. I see it as a win-win all around, and I'm very happy with the product and the support.
My brother does wish they had a Bass tour though, so he could earn money while practicing. He sees himself as a bit of a Blue Brother's bassist..;)

I put in Guitar Hero 3 today and forced myself to play for an hour. It sucked...
Rock Band didn't come with some options that I wish it would have but I love it. It gets my vote for game of the year.

I've had a killer time playing this game but is it what I thought it would be? Not quite because I thought I would be able to have four friends playing the game simultaneously. That has been a huge issue for me, I hope they remedy the GH3 compatibility thing quickly.

One of the best games i've ever played, by far.
however, the hardware problems are a huge letdown, thank god they are taking care of them fast.. if not a little sloppy... (i ordered one guitar, one drums... I now have five guitars and four drums... and no available credit on my card.)

It wasn't as fun as I had hoped, but it's probably because of the Les Paul compatibility on the PS3 (well, the lack thereof), the delaying of the "community" website, the strumming issue on my guitar, the fact that "express" delivery apparently means two or more weeks, and the broken bass pedal I'll probably have soon. Other than those though, it's okay.

Dude, keep em. Those things are selling like crack on eBay. Probably make more than the credit charge for em.

Yah, are they charging you the $125 for each of them or are they just putting the $100 hold on your card for each?

Well aside from my thoughts on the fancap (another story) My replacement guitar showed up today. Even with these issues I love this game as does my family and friends who usually either dont play games but love music or hated gh for button mashing. I have halo3 orangebox and guitarhero 3 with alot of things i want to finish on them but I cant put down the Rockband. Its like crack for your eyes and ears. Minus the sideaffects.

"IT IS WHAT WE THOUGHT IT WAS!!!!"
(I happen to think it was awesome) ;)
As hardware issues are ironed out, the community site comes online, and new DLC is put out, I expect only great things.

I am truly having a blast with this game although I'd sure like to see the online BWT someday.

I can't believe no one called you out on this. Only one of those was an advertised point (the community site). And, after the crap that was GH3's community site at launch, I'd much rather take late than broken.

And isn't that a sad thing, given that a Sony platform is the basis for their initial--and largest--success?

Said to myself back in July I was going with Harmonix and Rock Band over Guitar Hero 3. After playing both I'm extremely happy with my decision. While other people have had unfortunate hardware issues the only problem I have is overdrive sometimes activating on it's own; othwerise, I prefer this guitar over any of the GH guitars I've tried. The drums are a blast and the DLC is fantastic. The song list is great.
I just wish I could have bought a single guitar to have the 4th player. That's my only gripe. I guess I could go for no single player BWT mode but that's getting real nitpicky. Everyone I've had over to play the game has said it was worth it.

Way more fun then I thought. I never thought GH looked like fun, but never played it. The drums of RB are what got me to buy it. I love the guitar now almost as much. I have been up late every night trying to beat songs lol, I hate quitting before I beat a song.
Anyway, the first night my friend came over to play, we stayed up until 3am!! We only quit, because we just got so tired and started laughing hysterically at everything and couldn't play :). That and I couldn't play Say it ain't so and In Bloom for the 15th time in a row playing a RANDOM setlist....
I had problems with my drums and guitar, but I have my new drums and my guitar should be here soon(current one isn't too bad). I think the hardest thing has been getting friends over to play. They love the game, but with work, wife and kids, they are busy. Wish I had this in college(actually better I didn't!!). I have to get my wife to play somehow. I know she will like it once she trys.

I got to say it is, men if you can get your 60 year all aunt singing at the rhythm of Yeah Yeah Yeah, it has to be this thing is best than the Wii, the whole family has play together for marathons of 8 hours, people who wouldnt dare to even watch a game or a whole movie without falling asleep are jumping around humming the tunes, asking for the best techniques to rock, men this game ROCKS, I went to lot of trouble to get it, but men let me tell you It was worth it.

It's pretty much what I expected.
Very polished GH1/2 with drums and vocals and good DLC.
I honestly haven't had any personal gripes and have been fortunate to not have any hardware problems. Had a lot of fun nights with friends and I'm going to be trying solo vocals/guitar BWT shortly just to see what it's like.
I don't regret the purchase one bit.

Online BWT was never advertised.
But yea the game is exactly as good as I expected it to be, and the DLC has already exceeded my expectations.
