View Full Version : Score Duel = Abandonment?

Well, I was playing online yesterday, and was matched up with a really good drummer on Score Duel. After that, we played Almost Easy, and he got about 99%. Then, we picked We Got The Beat, which is fairly easy. Soon after I started playing, he abandoned the duel!

Am I not the only one who thinks this is getting really lame? It's happened to me several times now.

WTF?

It happens ALL THE TIME.

I've since taken it as a fact of life.

Wait, how did you know they're a really good drummer if they flat left you?

We played a song before We Got The Beat. :)

He got like, 99% on Almost Easy.

Ah... there's the answer then.... He was a metalhead who couldn't lower himself to pop-rock.

It may be because they just don't like the song... What song did you play them at before that?

Almost Easy. =P

EVERYBODY AND I MEAN EVERYBODY picks that song. It's an awesome song, but it's stupid that everybody picks it . . .

He started playing, but like, as soon as my turn came up, he f***ing left!

Probably because then he had a free hand to press the quit button... Of course, it could always be a bad connection.

It would've said so that his connection was bad.

But, THAT has happened to me only like 3 times.

But, it's still pisses me off that people can't just take the time to finish a song!

I remember when me and a buddy were playing online. We picked a pretty heavy song first, that was my buddy's choice. Then I picked Maps because i like singing that one, and he bailed before the first line was sung. On the bright side, online group play doesn't end the song if someone bails.... Maybe they should come up with some kind of penalty system for bailing....

That they should.

I'd like to call those people . . .

It's what makes competitive online modes pointless because the quitters don't get punished.

The bottom line is hmx doesn't give a crap about the people that get quit on. There have been numerous discussions about this in the main forum. I've seen hmx people come in countless times and give BS excuses on why people quit.

One said "What if they have a kid and he/she is throwing up? Are they expected to finish the song? What if their dog is choking?"

I explained that if your kid is throwing up or your dog is choking it's really friggen stupid to press start, scroll down to forfeit and press the button. If my dog was choking I'd throw the guitar down and run to help him.

They have said it's not fair to the people with bad connections. The people with bad connections SHOULDN'T be going online then, it's not fair to other people. If you have a bad connection then too bad for you.

There are a lot of other games that punish quitters. Hmx just doesn't care. I used to play score duel 99% of the time. I got sick of the quitters. I haven't gone in score duel in 2 months.

Exactly. A lot of people said the penalty for quitting should be a 15 min timeout. You're not allowed to join another session till then. If you're having a bad connection would it anger you if you had to wait 15 mins? I know I'd be fine with it.

Bad connections aren't as wide spread as people think. Every single time I was quit on the guy was losing. If I had to guess I'd say I've been quit on over 100 times. Why do people lose their internet when they're losing?

Dunno.

I've only had 3 instances where it's been a pain in the ass.

1. It was near the end of Bodhisattva, and the vocalist lost the connection, and we had to finish without him, but . . . WE LOST!
2. One time, the drummer just lost connection while we were choosing another song!
3. My friend had lost connection, and I had to finish the f***ing song without him. I was like "WTF man?".

I also hate people who don't play at all they just sit there and let the notes pass by! I HATE THOSE PEOPLE!

Um ok, what do you expect the person to do if something comes up? I've put the guitar down 2 times and muted the tv cause something important came up. I like when people do that. That way the guy still gets to play the song and I'm not quitting and getting away with losing true skill.

One guy messaged me after and thanked me for not quitting. I did the same to a guy that stopped playing but didn't quit out.

No, I mean, he plays then stops then plays the stops.

Meh, I hate quitters, but I've done it a few times myself.
Honestly, I hate that everyone automatically thinks people only quit because they felt like leaving or were losing. It's not the case. Because everyone thinks that I always have a bad feeling on my conscience whenever I quit, even if for legitimate reasons (like when my dog totally disappeared for a while and I quit on someone who had awesome DLC mid song).

Doesn't this belong in the Rock Band section, and aren't there 1,000 topics on this subject.

You know, he could've said to change the song.
That's the whole problem.
