Song downloads

I'm planning to get rock band soon, but i'm trying to decide if i want it for ps3 or 360, i was told that with the online stuff, you can download the songs on ps3 for free whereas with the 360 it costs you. Is this true? and is there any difference between the two systems besides needing to buy a wireless controller for 360 if u wanted one?

PS3 DLC is not free, unless you use that 4/5 friends thing, or whatever it's called. If you use that, then one of your friends can give you the DLC.
