Sorry if this is not the appropriate forum for this topic; feel free to move it to another if necessary!

For my final year practical project in BA Interactive Media Production (http://onlineservices.bournemouth.ac.uk/Courses/Course.aspx?course=30&code=BAIMP) I developed a Flash AIR based game that you play using the Rock Band drum set:

Go! Beatship! Find The Rhythm In You!! (http://beatship.net/)

Beatship is an experimental rhythm-action game that doesn't actually contain any music. Instead, you are the driving force behind the levels. Play drums to shoot down waves of enemies... with style!

[...]Think of Beatship as like a cross between Space Invaders, Ikaruga, Wii Music and Rock Band. It's a puzzle; it's a music game; but more importantly, everything comes down to you. You don't get instructions, and you don't get a metronome to play to... you're completely alone, and you're expected to figure it out yourself.

Beatship doesn't try to be Rock Band. It is perhaps a drum trainer, but one that's freestyle to the max. So, if you're not already a competent drummer, this is probably not the game for you!

The site (that link again (http://beatship.net/)) should contain all the info you need to get started if you want to try it out. Because the game runs in AIR rather than standalone you have to jump through a few hoops to get your drums set up for Beatship, but the instructions on the site should guide you through it fairly quickly.

A few YouTube videos:

How it works (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sz1a9oSxol8)
How it can be used (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fKsEP8TvJUg)
How, towards the end of the game, you might be expected to play (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ke1r7qchw4) :p

And some screenshots: city (http://beatship.net/site/pics/screen1full.png) / desert (http://beatship.net/site/pics/screen2full.png) / coastline (http://beatship.net/site/pics/screen3full.png) / Russia (http://beatship.net/site/pics/screen4full.png) / space (http://beatship.net/site/pics/screen5full.png)

I hope this reaches at least a few people - I'd like to know what you think, if you bother to try it out. And of course I have bookmarked this topic, so I should be back reasonably frequently to answer any questions etc.

Thanks!
