what about iced earth, killswitch engage, shadows fall? oh yeah there is a need for dbl bass that has yet to be addressed. Not that i shun metal but it is somewhat problematic with the given equipment. yes rammstein all the way except for the fact that its in GERMAN... other than that rock on...

DEVIL DRIVER would be awesome!!!!!! thats my fav. band of all time... even something like a dozen furies, Diecast, Lamb of god would be awesome.... i was actually at the gym today and heard some Flaw... it isn't metal, but even something like that would be nice..

coal chamber loco or big truck would be the SHI* ! but now i just gotta wait for my REPLACEMENT drums then hope for some metal on DLC

dude Zao would be awesome. ive posted a thread about this somewhere. its probably sank to the bottom. but i had a killer list.but id love some static x, i also want to some progressive/experimental metal on here. like between the buried and me, and the dillinger escape plan, opeth, despised icon. i love devildriver, havent listened to much coal chamber, but i like dd better. i really like dd's first album the best, it sounds like coal chamber, just heavier. lol.

most metal drums uses what? double bass pedal, good luck doing that with only one pedal lol... but they could tone it down maybe idk..... but if they could find a solution for the drums it might happen. you never know

Oh, I think some bands could work out alright.

On a marketing angle, Dethklok (from Adult Swim's Metalocolypse) would be a PERFECT choice, as it's not that complicated, already has a gamer fan base, and isn't reliant on the double bass.


I mean, it's got Iron Maiden. It's metal, I guess...


I'd love to get some Dark Tranquillity, Borknager, Sigh, At the Gates, Sonata Arctica, Cannibal Corpse (alright, maybe not Cannibal Corpse, as not a single song could pass the parental warnings...)


There's a lot of good metal out there that doesn't NEED the double bass. It's not like Sepultura is necessary, or anything.



OH, and anyone who actually ENJOYS Slipknot, do yourself a favor and listen to some bands from Norway and Sweden.

Metal is a sub-genre of Rock, METALLICA are metal and they made it to Rock Band, not Metal Band. I don't see what you problem is with Metal. I mean if you like Metallica then you contradict your post up there. You know good and well you want Metal as well, if you like Metallica.

touche sir, touche. the problem with metal is that metalheads have specific ideas of what it IS. just as rock, classic rock, punk rock, etc. PP People *****ing about metal are usually ones who listen to NOTHING but metal and therefore have to hear the darkest, fastest, most hardcore and indescypherable music (if u can call it that when it reaches this point) with the most gravely and defiant vocals. When it hits the seventh circle of sonic hell the triggers on the drums are louder than the drums themselves, the solos are either nonexistant or atonal as to be "original", and the vocals dont sound like a song but more of an incoherent rant from one of satans minions. the minions are much more coherent than that. thrash writhe and scream all you want but there has to be some MUSIC in the METAL or its worthless. but hey axe? whats your definition of metal? I am always interested to find new bands...

if its growl count it out. the game does require actual SINGING. they wont just score you on knowing the words. if you are in to that check out GET ON THE MIC for PS2, its a rap game. But i doubt anybody will...90% of the ppl here dont even consider rap to be music. Just a suggestion though.

Lamb of God, Five Finger Death Punch, Pantera, Soilwork.

All would be very welcome additions to the Rock Band lineup. I am getting this on Christmas and am hoping to be able to spend another 50-75 bucks on dlc when I get hold of it. So far, the only things that really interest me are the Metallica and Black Sabbath.

i love heavier stuff.... i mean, i'm kinda dissapointed that there's no Avenged Sevenfold or Slipknot yet there is Freezepop...

but if you look in the news section of the main page to this site, you'll see in one of the articles that they will be releasing new songs EVERY WEEK from release until the END OF 2008 for sure. that is a LOT of songs... i think we'll get our metal... eventually

oh... and i believe someone mentioned one of the big problems for having metal (especially the bands mentioned in the OP) on rock band...: no double bass... i really have no idea, for all i know they are working on an extension for another pedal right now... but until they do... the drums can't very well play songs from DevilDriver or Slipknot...

Megadeth
Black Sabbath
and of course the forefathers: Led Zeppelin

If you want metal in rock band, you'd better start an enormous petition for Hmx, because although they probably listen to some real metal, they wont put much of it in the game. The general public wouldn't like it.

By real metal I mean a mix between hardcore and traditional metal. Stuff that makes your eyes bleed, and your face melt, that is rarely on the radio or TV. Walls of Jericho, Shadows fall, Comback kid, Thrice(illusion of safety). You name it. There are many more bands that would fit, but I just don't think they'll ever drop much metal in Rock band.

The older metallica songs were a great addition for DLC, but I don't think they'll take it much further.

I agree with the poster below. They are decent songs - but there are a lot more songs that has great instrumentals and are *fun* to song. All the "guest" players that comes over to your house will probably want just to sing or maybe on Guitar Easy... Get some songs that would recognize and have fun with.

I would be willing to be that a significant portion of those who purchased rock band will thoroughly enjoy playing the hardcore metal songs.

Plus, the beauty of DLC is that not everyone has to get it. It's virtually pure profit anyways and requires little to NO overhead (especially relative to the volume of units of DLC they could potentially sell) for HMX and Xbox Live so WHY THE FUX NOT?

The better players out there (hard skill, and especially expert), from the LARGE majority of said players that I've talked to who play Guitar hero/rock band, like the heavier faster songs quite a lot, and I'm sure would fork down a few dollars for more of it.

IMHO I think they are the funnest to play.

As for the double bass, I'm sure a y-cable and another pedal would do it fine.

Love that double-bass sound. Complete ownage.

Ltos of peopel buy rock Band, not just htose that want to sing pop songs. I have no desire to EVER sing Fall Out Boy, but I'd love to growl along with Dethklok, or Dark Tranquillity, or the like.

The point of this thread being, I think, that there is a significant percentage of metal fans who purchased Rock Band, and we would all GLADLY spend out hard earned cash for some Pantera, but not so much for Within Temptation.
