View Full Version : Purchase broken drum set?

I'm not exactly sure how long EA is replacing broken instruments for, or what the conditions are, but I was wondering if it'd be possible to buy a broken drum set for cheap? Really the amount of physical problems/damage doesn't matter as long as the 360 still recognizes the device as a drum set. I've got an idea for a mod (getting my electric drum set to work with it) and this seems like the easiest solution.
Obviously I could use a functional one to do this as well, but I'd like to avoid paying for/wrecking a good one if I can :P.

Do you want to buy one from EA or from an end user?

Either one, really. I doubt EA would sell me one so end user seems most likely.

I'll sell you my broken one for $125 plus shipping :)

I think I'd have to decline that offer unfortunately. One ebay the "Buy it now" price of just drums (for the 360, which is what I'm looking for in case I wasn't specific enough) is $121, with a starting bid of $86.
Edit:
I get the impression that's the retail price and you're yanking my chain :P

It's actually the price of ordering a replacement drum set with the credit card holding fee, and then not sending back the broken set. It's a good way to order additional sets if you're really in the mood, but like he said, it's $125 :)

It occurs to me that I'll likely have more luck with this once EA stops offering returns on all drum kits (unconditionally?). I'm taking a crack at contacting them directly, but, we'll see how that goes.

I doubt they would send you a discounted broken kit, as you could then send it back and say it came in the box (or have a friend do the same), and in the end, get a discounted working kit.

Yeah, I suggested that if they wanted to remove some parts from it that would prevent me from returning it that'd be fine. Which, unfortunately, means that they're likely to not bother with me :P.
Oh well, maybe I'll just have to fork out the $125.
