If you open your guitar and mess something up, your warranty is void.

If you open your guitar and EA finds out, your warranty could potentially be void even if you don't mess anything up (though this would be uncool).

I do not want you to open your guitar unless you already have, or are very comfortable opening your expensive electronic toys and putting them back together again.

With that disclaimer out of the way, I want to know if you received a replacement guitar, are the strum switches magnetic or mechanical?

Here are pictures of magnetic switches. (http://community.rockband.com/vbforum/showthread.php?t=13334)

I'm not going to open mine unless it craps out on me. I'm not risking EA finding out about it and then not replacing it for free.

What's so great about the magnetic ones? The replacement guitar they sent me had magnetic contacts and it was complete rubbish. The upstrum barely registered.

That too would be good information to have. My replacement seems ok and it's mechanical.
