I plugged it in and my computer recognized it just fine. If I go into the controller settings, I can see it, and I can even watch each button, the strum bar, the effect switch, the wammy bar, and the accelerometer activate. However, if I try to register buttons for key settings in a certain freeware PC game, I can't get the strum bar to register for me. All of the other buttons work just fine, but I can't get the game to acknowledge me pressing the strum bar. I even tried using joy2key but I couldn't figure it out. Anyone have any idea?

That certain freeware game, whether FretsOnFiree or GuitarZero has forums for people like you. =)

Guitar Zero seems to not even have an official site that I can find. I'll see if I can get some support over at Frets on Fire though, although I must admit, a preliminary search has returned no results on the topic of Rock Band guitar usage.

Does this mean I have no chance of getting any help here though? What if I changed my story to "I'm not trying to use this for a Guitar Zero clone, but rather as a means to navigate my file system JUST BECAUSE"?

There may be no answers with respect to the Strat, but I had the same problem with my Explorer. I'm running FoF under Linux now though. Never got GZ to work right.
