So I've been playing with the strat for a couple weeks now and have been getting VERY frustrated. I can get through Expert with no problem on all the Guitar Hero's but for some reason I was missing so many notes with this damn Strat. So last night for the hell of it I switched back to the Les Paul and all I can say is wow.....what a difference. I'm back to rockin again like I used to.

My strat will now sit and and wait for one of my non skilled friends to pick it up and play bass.

Oh...and my overdrive actually went off when I wanted it to. Crazy!!

Why would you want to do that to someone? If it don't work right, get it replaced!

Since my strat broke I've been playing on my Les Paul and I love it but for some reason overdrive doesn't work with tilting the guitar if I'm playing both guitar and singing on mic, it will sometimes work if I'm just playing guitar but only sometimes, usually I have to press select. Does yours work perfectly? I'm wondering why mine doesn't, I mean it works perfect in guitar hero 3, no problems at all, but not in Rock Band and I'm told it should.

And yeah I'm playing on 360.

Feel the pain of PS3 players who have a LP but cannot use it. :(

Please don't: There's so much wireless lag on the PS3 LP, you can barely play anything well on expert.

Also Dans, your guitar is broken, especially if the Overdrive isn't working right. Use the warranty and get a new one.

I would give anything to have another working guitar (PS3 owner), as my LP sits and collects dust. With the holidays coming, everyone is asking to come over and jam. With no bass guitar it makes it "less exciting". At this point I would even pay for a patch that would allow the GH3 sticks to work.

Not hate'n, just excited to try RB out with a full band!;)

Not because of the content, but because my grandfather's name was Les Paul, and he was one of my favorite people in the world.

I plan on it but I'm definitely waiting until I know for sure the strat's issues have been fixed. I don't want to get another crappy strat and go through the whole process again.

Agreed, it's a horrible piece of garbage. Still, there seem to be a lot of people clambering to have it supported under Rock Band...

I'm only playing on hard, not expert, but are you sure your HDTV is well calibrated? I didn't need to, but I saw that option in the settings. But I'm not even 2 meters away from the console. Or were you talking about LP on RB only? I'm talking about GH3, since I can't try LP on RB...

But do we know for sure that the issues with the PS3 Les Paul are in the hardware and not in Neversoft's hack-job of a port?

True, true. The lag could be attributable to that. I'll certainly be trying the PS3 Les Paul out on Rock Band when and if we get a patch. I personally love the action of the Strat (now that I've fixed it) so the Gibson is going to get backup bass duty in all likelihood.

The wireless lag problem with PS3 GH3 is entirely software-side. This was plain to see when Activision started telling PS3 users to set the HDTV lag in the game to 31ms just to compensate for the wireless lag that Neversoft never bothered to account for in the game. There's no issue with the hardware. The wireless dongle setup is essentially the same for Rock Band yet there's no perceivable wireless lag in that game.

The Strat I recieved as a replacement is 100 times better. I don't know what all this negativity is about, but I guess that's why the internet has forums.

Strat is like butter. Way better than the little toy guitar LP. The Strat is smooth responsive, and well Hell PERFECT. This is of course my replacement as the first one was crap, but the new one. I got rid of my LP and traded it for another replaced Strat, so now I have 2 of the sweet sweet guitars. I would rather use the old x-plorer than that crappy LP..:D

I had absolutely no lag issues with either the PS3 LP or the Strat. Not sure what you all are talking about. Maybe you got defective parts?

We had GH3 for the Wii and had no problem. My daughter could ace songs on Expert with no problems.

When HMX prematurely announced the guitar compatibility patch we traded in our Wii version for a PS3 version.

GH3 for the PS3 is unplayable!!!!! If I wasn't mad at Activision before for getting their lawyers involved with the patch issue I'm VERY ticked off that I can't even play their own game! Also, the guitar has differences from the Wii version. The buttons and strum bar are much stiffer. I'm not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing.

I was playing on a CRT, using the LP on PS3.

There was definitely noticable lag between me hitting something and it registering on the screen. I also had the 360 version set up just to compare, and the 360's controller was spot on (no lag).

I play on a LCD HDTV, zero lag ,and I play expert without any hitch.
Even in the test settings to see if there was any lag at all, the game told me there was 0ms.

There seems to be two camps. People who had horrible lags and people who got no lag at all. First question : What wireless technology does the Wii use for GH3? I thought that only MS was strict in the usage of their wireless technology, and since the PS3 doesn't use blue-tooth, I thought the Wii and PS3 were both using the same technology.

I don't 'ace' songs when I play on hard, but the notes that I missed are really notes that I missed due to my lack of skills, not lag.

The Wii version forces you to place a Wii controller inside the guitar itself. This way you are using Nintendo's interface rather than a third party's. This is why it worked so well for both the Wii and the Xbox 360. Probably why it sucked for the PS3.

Sucks for you maybe, I still don't have any problems. The green button on screen lights up at the EXACT time that I press the green fret. For the people having issues, I would get it changed, it could be a defunct.

Same here , I've had no lag issues whatsoever on my Les Paul.

Same, my fret buttons are stiffer but that's how the made the guitar. Lab wise, nada. Try calibrating to fix your problem. When I do I still get 0ms lag. :D

We also have a HD LCD and when we use the calibration tool it comes out to zero. Activision has posted on the GH3 website that there IS an issue with the PS3 in regards to lag and that they have submitted a patch to Sony but Sony has not released it yet.

Perhaps all of you have simply compensated for the lag? Having started off by playing it on a different platform we are used to the "correct" timing and not what is presented by the PS3 version. Just wait until they fix it. You'll have to re-compensate.

How can it come to zero if you press at the right time and the console receives it late? If there was lag, when we would press the green fret, the green button would light up a second or something later on screen, no? I played the previous GH games on PS2, but I haven't played any GH games on other consoles. I can't notice any difference in the timing between both games. The only lag I encountered in GH3 was sometimes on the activation of star power, frame rate drops and I sometimes miss the next note if I'm not in the beat of the song. But that has nothing to do with the guitar. I only wonder how GH3 can lag when games like COD4 don't lag at all...
