Hey, all. Like many of you, I had to send out my guitar due to the strum bar issue, and just received it yesterday; however, the fret buttons are absolutely horrible; they CLACK CLACK and seem to be a bit sticky, and sometimes during song lists and menus, the strum bar seems to register in the "down" position, so it just loops through on down.
I also noticed that the model # in the back of the replacement guitar, is exactly the same as the one on my original guitar.
Does anyone else have these two issues?

Unfortunately, most replacements are refirbished. So they have the same model number since it's just a first gen guitar someone sent in. They just take the guitars that have been sent back, strip out the strummer, put the newly designed strummer in, and send it right back out. I was thinking the speed they are taking care of things was too good to be true. There is always a catch. Don't send off for a replacement thinking you are getting a new guitar with a new design. You are just getting someone else's old guitar. It looks like a quick job too. Many people's replacements are all scratched and scraped up. It looks like they just take out the old strummer parts. Then melt some plastic pieces containing either a magnet or just metal to the strummer. Then they hot glue some sensors in. Some of these arent being glued in properly resulting in people having trouble with their upstrum. Maybe one day, we'll get the replacements we deserve.

You're kidding me! I just sent in for a replacement a few days ago, now I'm going to get back some shoddy, shady, half-a**ed replacement? On top of everything else?!

Well it's no different than any other warranty replacement service. They reserve the right to send out refurbished products as replacements.

I have the exact same problems. My guitar is brand new though. It has zero scratch on it. I don't think my strum bar is the new model though, although i haven't bothered to open it. I'll open it when it dies :D

Just got my PS3 version last night, and after 3 hours the guitar is broke. I have the strum bar that is stuck in the down postion, so I cant navigate the menus with it anymore. Its not physically stuck. It just registers in the down postion like you said.
WTF???

New guitar works flawlessly. My fret buttons were slightly clacky at fisrt but after using it they have quited down completly and work like butter.

This is an outright lie and nothing more than FUD (Fear, Uncertainty, Doubt).
See here the statement made by an EA employee on this very forum:

Well, how do you explain people getting obviously used hardware?

I also had a bad replacement.
Circular scratch marks around the body
Noisy fret buttons
Orange solo button is very loose and loud compared to all the others
Upstrum hardly registers
Overdrive has trouble activating
