It was rigged. There was NO WAY Kris won, let's face it, Adam hit notes that the girls couldn't. What are your thoughts?

So? Just because he can hit high notes doesn't mean he's a good singer. Lambert's voice will be blown out in a few years.

I disagree. Carrie Underwood's "Before He Cheats" would be an awesome addition to the Country genre on Rock Band.

Vote for the Worst is the only way to make watching American Idol tolerable.

http://www.votefortheworst.com/

BTW, I didn't even care about this season or any of the people....I've given up after Sanjaya left two years ago. Not voting or even watching, lol.

And no, I am not someone who is advertising this site, I don't work there or anything, it's just a dumb message cause I'm sitting at home and have nothing better to do or post.

It doesnt really matter who won. both will be successful. both landed huge record deals. both will be touring heavily for the next five years. the winner is all for show. when i went on rollingstone.com and read the blog (of course in shock of the pick), everyone was flaming on how "America sux Adam forever Kris blows" or something similar. people need to calm down. its just a tv show haha

I don't think that's why he lost. If you look at the demographic that votes they mostly wouldn't have a problem with it.

But way to make it a sexuality issue

That's cool, but where you live is not an entire country is it?

I'm sure if the US can vote in an African American President they could handle a homosexual American Idol.

He just lost, face facts.

Racial minorities are much more accepted in the US than homosexuals, so that's a pretty bad analogy (case in point: look at how many US states have outright banned homosexual marriages). Now if we had a homosexual president, that would be a different story, but that obviously didn't happen. Knowing America, I'd say his sexuality at least had some effect on the voting, though it's probably about as big a factor as his style, his singing voice, his fashion, and so on.

Yeah but it's offset by the magnitude of what it is. I'm sure people care more about who runs the country than they do who wins this popularity contest.

Still, bias is bias. Just look at how many black people have won/been in the top X versus how many openly homosexual people have won/been in the top X. The numbers are staggeringly different.

How many contestants are straight vs ***? I mean if 100 people try out and 1 person is ***, chances are the top 10 for example are going to be all straight.

I'm just not buying this conspiracy theory. People may have voted for Kris because they dislike Adam, but not necessarily because of his sexual orientation. For example, I rip on Adam constantly because I think he's a poser and he's better suited for musicals and theatre compared to a recording artist.

I didn't vote but if I had it would have been for Kris. I couldn't care less if Adam likes dudes or not.

I would disagree. Around the Bush/Kerry election more people had voted for the winner of American Idol than that of the presidential election itself.

Pop culture has mostly dictated the opinion of the American people ever since it became a consumer culture. After all, citizens find television, movies and music more interesting and interactive than politics. Reality shows find immense popularity under this social rule, as most last much shorter than soap operas or other shows that require large amounts of background knowledge. Knowing in the moment, reality in television, compels the average consumer's attention. And a show like American Idol is the epitome of this tendency.

Not that American Idol is a bad show, but to garner the magnitude of attention it currently holds puts it in an unfavorable light to those who can see beyond the ridiculousness of the situation, those who do not watch or vote.

Yeah. People are fooling themselves if they don't think Adam's sexuality did not play a significant part in the voting process.

I'm ambivalent towards the show, but I think it's pretty pathetic that people are not able to get beyond such a irrelevant quality in this case.

There were a few people earlier in the thread saying it was RIGGED. That would be a conspiracy.

Like I said before, there are other reasons for people to dislike the guy, I gave one example earlier already.

I think there are people that wouldn't vote for him because he's *** but I don't think that's why he lost. You're also not even considering the fact that there may have been votes FOR him just because he's ***.

My point in this was that I didn't think he lost because of his sexual preference. But there are a few Adam fans in this thread that make themselves feel better by claiming something unfair is going on here.

This contest has been a popularity contest since it's inception. Why is anyone surprised about it now?
