View Full Version : Anyone make a PRP claim through Best Buy?

Purchased the 2 year extended product replacement plan for my Rock Band 2 bundle. 5 months in, the whammy bar snaps off. (No abuse. Really. My wife isn't that rowdy when she plays.)

Trying to make a claim under the Product Replacement Plan. Has anyone had any experience with this Best Buy program? Did you have to return the entire bundle - software, guitar, drums and dongles - or just the defective component?

And while I'm at it - would returning the software mean redownloading DLC and losing band stats when I get a new disc? Is the data connected to a serial number on the disc, or just on the console?

Thanks for any info...

I have returned drums as part of the PRP program, but I had purchased them as a standalone. I just brought in the drums with ALL parts (no box) and they gave me a brand new set off the floor. I'm not sure how bundles work, but I would call your local Best Buy to see how they would like for you to handle it.

And don't worry if you need to return the disc. Your data are connected to your console, not that specific disc.

Thanks Dovanon. That's what I thought and what I was hoping for on the disc issue.

Also thought I remembered the manager telling me I could just bring controllers to the store for replacement - but then saw the terms of the plan in the brochure and the big stop-sign flyer saying "DON"T RETURN ITEMS TO STORE." Going to try walking it in and see what happens. That's what I get for reading instructions

There was a thread a few months ago where some people reported having their local Best Buys handle PRP returns like mine, but some users actually had to follow the PRP process to get the gift card first. I would call and ask the customer service rep at your local stores. Each store manager may handle it differently.

Pleased to report that my Best Buy replaced the guitar only from a RB2 Special Edition Bundle. Manager told me as long as they had the bundle I originally bought in stock, they would replace the part only, instead of having me return the entire bundle for a broken guitar.

Thanks again, D.
