Why Sims 3?

Am I the only one who thinks that Maxis is rushing in to this one? I mean, the leap from the sims 1 to the sims 2 was big, but I cant see very much difference between 2 and 3. does anyone agree?

Yes, I kind of agree, there doesn't seem to be many differences from the sims 2 but there actually are some important differences like the open city and the "create a style". How well balanced those changes will be can't be predicted. We have to wait and try if it ends up exactly like the sims 2 or similar to the sims 2, but much improved.

I wouldn't say they're rushing too badly, considering the original Sims 2 was back in 2004, it's been almost five years. I wouldn't mind more of the same if they've learned from Sims 2 and identified ways the same basic game could be improved upon. I just hope there'll be a more holistic approach from the beginning and not millions of expansion packs, each of which opens a new can of worms.

Is it just me, or do the sims' faces look kind of weird in Sims 3? They were supposed to be cartoon-like with exaggerated features in Sims 2, obviously, but in Sims 3 it seems like their facial features are all bunched together.

I'm looking forward to trying out the newest version. Especially the new personaility and character types. I've only been able to play the PS2 version... so i haven't been able to try out some of the stuff...

Torrent Version is a beta version.

Also, Sims 3 has a lot of differently scaled features. Also, Maxis was NOT in control for this games development. Will Wright was NOT involved.

I don't know how different it will be from The Sims 2, none of will know until it is released.

But The Sims 3 = Instant Buy for me.

Reserved a copy at Gamestop already.

Loved the Sims 1 and Sims 2, didnt get the last 3 expansions though, comp couldnt handle it and didnt get any stuff packs(stuff packs ftl).

Ill be getting this though when i move to america and get a new comp(at least 20x better). My comp right now seriously has only 512 MB of RAM

Im pretty sure Maxis made the game but Wright left to pursue other things

Sorry, nope. Sims 3 was developed by EA Redwood Studios and Black Box Games, Maxis had no involvement from what I know of.
