mad catz cymbals

hey guys. i just got the cymbals and they aren't working. the only time they seem to work is when i pull the plugs out of the ports on the back of my drums, then you hear the hi-hat or crash go off real quick. anybody have an idea on what i could do to fix this or do i have to send them back?
