View Full Version : PS3 DLC Problem - Songs Not Loading

All,
I have downloaded several songs for rock band 2 over the last few months and most of the songs work fine. However, three of the downloads I have made recently are not allowing me to play them. I can see the tracks in the song list in the game, but if I select one, the song does not preview and does not allow me to play. The load screen will come up but the game will never actually start. I tried re-downloading all of them to no avail. Is there a way I can delete the original files and try to download them fresh as opposed to overwriting them? Or is there another way I can fix this problem so I can play all of my dlc?

I have a few questions for you.... are these DLC tracks ones that you have personally purchased? Or are these tracks that you are trying to play that was purchased with someone else's account?
Have you ever done any account sharing before to trade DLC? This is the only scenario that I've seen happen to people that suddenly weren't able to play a DLC song on their setlist because the account was passed around to too many people.
I'm not saying you have done this, but this is why I will never trade my account with anyone.

Yep, I personally purchased all of the songs. I didn't share my account with anybody I know of and I'm usually not connected to the net when I play. Two of the songs were purchased two or three days ago and I haven't been able to load them yet. That's part of the reason I'm so confused by this as I've never even heard of it happening to anyone else.

Okay... good to know. The only other thing I can think of is that something may have become corrupted. davidshek posted a good set of instructions for recreating the DRM cache on the xbox here: http://www.rockband.com/forums/showthread.php?t=142574
I wonder if there is a similar way of recreating this on the PS3. Anyone else have any ideas?

A couple of people have been able to rectify PS3 DLC problems by deactivating then reactivating their console. This is done though account management - account activation.
To start fresh, you have to wipe all your dlc and download it all again.

I have also had this problem on my PS3. I had Rock Band 1 and downloaded many songs for it and then Purchased Rock Band 2 and downloaded a few songs for that with no problem. And then my first problems started when I downloaded the Steve Miller Track pack and some Pearl Jam tracks from their Ten album. They all downloaded and showed up, but had the same problem as the first person here is having. I then contacted support through email and they told me that I needed to delete these songs in my account management(which I never have found where you can delete certain songs) and redownload through the game(since all my other songs had been purchased and downloaded through the PS store by me legally also). They also told me that there is a issue with the Pearl Jam Tracks and they were working on that. I wrote back to ask about any of the other songs and ask where exactly I could delete individual songs in my account Management, but they never responded back. Well today I decided to try and purchase a few songs and download through the game itself. I downloaded a few Who songs and No doubt songs and a few Toby Keith songs, 1 Alice Cooper song and tried another Pearl Jam song. Well the Who songs and the No Doubt Songs work great and the others don't. So Unless someone can help
here, I am going to give up on this game and maybe switch over to Guitar Hero.
PS: I have deleted everything I could for the game(saves, game itself etc.) and reloaded and downloaded everything to no avail. I have also tried the deactivating and reactivating trick to no avail also. Its just weird how some songs can be downloaded and work great but some cannot.

I'm not sure why you're having problems with those songs, I have all of them and have not had any issues. I know big help.
For the PS3, there is way to delete individual songs, it's all or nothing.
Have you tried deleting all your dlc songs and downloading one of the problem songs to see if it's still a problem or not?

yeah, I deleted all of them and then just tried one and then a few of the problem songs, to no avail!! What a pain!!! Do you have the pearl jam songs?Just because like i said, support said that they know of a issue with them.

I have the whole Pearl Jam pack.
Did you download the Pearl Jam songs individually or as a pack? Not sure if there's a difference there or not.

Ok, my problem is solved, I deactivated system, deleted everything on my PS3 that had to do with Rock band 1 & 2. Reactivated system, reinstalled games and did updates to them and then redownloaded a few of the games that were not working including a fe of the pearl jam songs and they seem to be all working now. i still have alot of songs to redownload, but most all of the ones that were not working before, I have now redownloaded and they are working. Thanks for all the help and suggestions.

Glad to hear it's sorted out. Did you only delete the song files or the game save files too?

Game save files/data files, everything on my PS3 that had to do with rock Band 1 & 2. And now I have just about got all my songs back downloaded and have not found any problems with any of them now.

I'm having the same issue on 360 with the iron maiden pack and evanescence pack. I don't have net access at my house so i have to download elsewhere then i play them at home. Neither of these packs will load for me and I just downloaded them yesterday.

You'll need to make sure your game is on the latest patch. DLC can be problematic if not.

Jeees, i dont know what to say. I have been through so many threads on this looking for help and finally thought i had found an answer but alas, the solution here has not fixed my problem :-( mine is slightly different in that all of my rb1 and dlc is available to me in rb2 - but only if i have signed in. if i dont sign in i cant play. it is fine as long as i leave my ps3 in standby but i need to sign in to PSN each time i have unplugged it (so taking it round a friends is a no go unless they hav t'internet) i dont know if it is related but my ps3 also doesnt remember the time if i unplug it - should it? i have deleted everything (including a full format that took nearly 5hrs!) i have activated and deactivated countless times, i have spoken to playstation and ea support but neither have been particularly helpful, each blaming the others hardware/software respectively. sorry to dig this all back up but am fairly frustrated with it all now... :-( any help (esp from harmonix if they are listening!) would be massively appreciated!

well, i know this thread isn't appropriately for my question but here we go?
I have rock band 2 for PS3, and i bought it on America last summer but I live in Cape Verde, and my PSN account is portuguese.
Now i've bought 1 song for it on playstation store, it is even flow from pear jam.
Now when i get to the game, it doesn't loads the song that i bought, i've tried to put the cheats, but it doesn't appears on the song list.
What i can do to have that song on the set list.
I hope you guys can help me please.

I have no idea what you mean by that. I have a similar problem, but I don't know what the latest patch is, or how to go about getting said patch. I am not a gamer and own no games other than rockband 2, so forgive me for my cluelessness. Thanks!

Here is your problem. Even though the game and system is not region-locked, the DLC is region-locked. So, the game region and the region from where you purchased the DLC must match. So you need to either get a Portuguese version of the game, or you must make an American PSN account.

^^ That post was from April. Hopefully that dude figured it out by now.
As for ikiilecru, I think the patch update is basically automatic if you ever play online. On my PS3, I can't log into the Rock Band Central servers without have the latest patch installed. If there is a new patch, it'll prompt me to install it when I bring up the game while my console is on the internet.
