Any interest in some of The Smiths (http://music.yahoo.com/ar-264732-discography--The-Smiths) hits, such as How Soon Is Now, The Queen Is Dead, or There is a Light That Never Goes Out ?
Perhaps some of Morrissey's solo work even?

Yes I would be. Be sure to mention This Charming Man of course.

Any chance that in a year or so, there could be hundreds of Rock Band songs you could choose from buying, rather than ~80 or so that are included and already announced, or will that be about it?
It could mean big bucks for the developers/distributors if the world loves this game as much as I have so far since I am driven to keep playing to see what other songs are there, and had no problem buying all the add-on songs available so far even though I don't particular like some of those bands, but just for the variety while playing.
I'm sure they know what they could be sitting on if done right, but that's the concern after reading all these pissed off gamers flaming up these boards (geesh guys, all that crap makes it hard to find any real answers on here), but here's to hoping. That and getting it to recognize my GT3 guitar on my PS3:)

The Smiths would be a cool addition.

I'd really like The Smiths, but due to the way they broke up and the eventual lawsuit, I don't think it's going to happen. The royalties would cause too many problems. That said, I could die a happy man if Barbarism Begins At Home or What She Said were in the game. Bigmouth Strikes Again would be nice too.

I thought that since Morrissey can now do The Smiths songs in concert was a result of him winning that battle and the rights. Somebody just needs to give Moz a demo or even via some of his current band members who seem very musical, esp the multi-talented keyboard/trumpet/trombone/etc player who could prob talk him into it.

This Charming Man is almost too perfect for the game. Great for all four players.

And of course "What Difference Does It Make?" Make it a house rule that whomever is singing has to do the falsetto on that last part. :D

I would absolutely soil myself if they released ANY smiths content. They are definitely my favorite band and would definitely suit Rock band. If I had to choose only 3 songs for a dlc pack, they'd have to be:
This charming man (http://youtube.com/watch?v=kGnjrTkv1gs)
Bigmouth strikes again (http://youtube.com/watch?v=k5CltsEN8DQ&feature=related)
Nowhere fast (http://youtube.com/watch?v=uzCdf3Myazw) (Definitely my favorite smiths songs.)
A whole album download would be phenomenal. Any of them, really. But I'm sure that's less likely.

Def. The Smiths, throw in Joy Division and The Cure for good measure as well, all three deserve their spot.

If you put any Smiths 3-pack together (which would be great), I'd like to see:
"This Charming Man" (good technical guitar lead by Marr on this song -- would be fun)
"London" (great song for Rock Band, but might be too short)
"Handsome Devil" (great guitar riff and some good drumming)
But, as creid mentioned, earlier, there was an acrimonious lawsuit about 10 year ago between Morrissey and Mike Joyce in England that centered around the band's royalties. That would most likely preclude licensing their music for a game like Rock Band. I mean, Morrissey won't even appear at their RnR HoF induction ceremonies, this year, because he won't share a stage with Joyce.
Still, it is fun to play the "what if" game.

Man, it'd be great to get The Smiths on Rock Band. Am I the only one who wants "Sheila Take a Bow"? I love that song. "This Charming Man" would be great though too.

..funny, that's what inspired me to post this thread in the first place, hoping to find out if there were any fans internally at Harmonix to make it happen.
I thought Morissey has all the rights to The Smiths songs now, and I loved seeing him last fall open up the show with strobe lights on the drummer doing a redunkulously EXPERT level drum solo that erupted into 'The Queen Is Dead' as Morrisey finally appeared on stage.
How about software that allows users to use their existing digitual music library to compose their own charts, allowing for an automatic first draft scan that can be tweaked as desired. Legal or greed issues on some end I'm sure come into play, but isn't the technology almost there?

Here's a video with decent quality from one of Morrissey's shows earlier in 2007 where they closed with The Queen Is Dead, but I swear they extended it and made it more dramatic as the tour evolved by the time I saw them open with that number.<BR>
I must admit that I forgot that even the 1986 original version (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7iMeyKEOvBI) of the song started with a drum solo. Anyone else now catch themselves recognizing and appreciating the individual instruments in songs while listening to the radio that you just didn't before Rock Band? I never used to think twice about drum or bass lines really when listening to music, while those that are seem challenging to play are first to stand out to me now.<BR><object width="425" height="373"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/qhCwed_RqIw&rel=1&color1=0x5d1719&color2=0xcd311b&border=1"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/qhCwed_RqIw&rel=1&color1=0x5d1719&color2=0xcd311b&border=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="373"></embed></object>

OK, based on this video from 1986 I found on YouTube, they had it going on back then with the whole strobe/spot light on the drum solo at the beginning of The Queen is Dead live. I guess I just didn't appreciate it as being so difficult back in the day, but it sounds good to me still today, and seeing how young Morrissey looks makes me feel so OLD.<BR><object width="425" height="373"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/GQ5F9yQCu_Y&rel=1&color1=0x5d1719&color2=0xcd311b&border=1"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/GQ5F9yQCu_Y&rel=1&color1=0x5d1719&color2=0xcd311b&border=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="373"></embed></object>

sweet and tender hooligan would probably be my first choice... but I can't think of many smiths songs that wouldn't work very well in rock band. I grew up with the smiths myself. let's keep our fingers crossed :)

I saw Morrissey live last year (for free mind you. Got hook ups with a homie that works for KROQ ) and damn... He may have aged, but his voice has not... He went with Smiths Songs, some old Morrissey tunes and some new ones... He took off his shirt and threw it into the crowd and goddamn did people fight for that! He ended the show with "How soon is now..."
Amazing show! Morrissey/The Smiths for Rockband! WHOOOOO!
