what does pre release mean for rock band?

I dont know if this is off topic but at my gamestop it says that rock band is pre- realeasing in january i wanted to know what that meant. I wanted to get it for xmas but i need to know what that means. thnx

i assume it means you would place your order with the next shipment that being jan 08, which for me i will be on that boat

thats stupid i think they should just keep shipping them after their reall release date but mine is january 2

Up until this afternoon, it said 12-7. Then it randomly decided to change.. so... I bailed on that and I can go pick up mine at Circuit City tomorrow. :D
