This is what i think is happening at this point...
Guitar Hero
By the way the setlist is looking so far (confirmed artists/songs), it seems like, since Guitar Hero is a bigger name, they are trying to find obscure bands and obscure songs to fill their setlist. By doing this, they are not trying to make a quality game, they are just getting a s*** load of money by these indie bands to "get their name out there." But since "out-of-the-loop" moms know the name Guitar Hero, they are just going to buy that instead of Rock Band for their 8 year old daughter.
Summary - Guitar Hero just wants money and doesn't care about satisfying their customers.
Rock Band
Rock Band, on the other hand, really seems to care about their clientele. They get songs that span the entire genre of Rock n Roll. They even have brought in Country and soon, Rap. (Snoop Dogg) Rock Band brings you great quantity, and even better quality. They give you music for anyone. From MegaDeth, Metallica, Motorhead for the "popular" metalhead. The Who, The Guess Who, Bad Company for the classic rocker. The Hives, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Strokes, Modest Mouse for the 2000's rocker. I could go on and on with that. There is music for absolutely everyone. and the list will continue to expand with the large amounts of DLC every week.
