guitar won't work

recently bought rock band, however when I attempt to play the game it keeps asking me to connect a mic. I have a PS3 and a guitar hero guitar...............can this be fixed???

It's because you have a controller turned on. Turn off/unplug the controller and then turn on the guitar and it should work. Anyways, does anyone know of a mod for the guitar frets because I think the short 30 warranty is up and my guitar's solo keys (specifically red and orange) won't work unless I push down on them very hard. This is frustrating to me because I only use the solo keys...
