Strange question about the forums.

You know when you look at someones profile on here you see the friends on the left side.

I always wanted to know why some people are always on the top, like what criteria goes into how high you are on the friends list?

Stupid question but I have always wondered about it.

It's a bit mysterious, I've ruled out the likely ones such as:

"How long has the person been registered"
"How many posts does the person have"
"How long have you been friended with that person"
"Being on the HMX staff"


Back in version 1 of the website you could actually control which users appeared there.



I HAVE noticed that if you comment on that user's profile it increases the likelihood of showing up.

Maybe it goes by ip address?

It should let you choose your top friends.

I think it goes by how many friends that person has, because that one greyguys user is on the top of everyone's list and he has a ton of friends.

I THINK it's either based off the number of posts the person has or how many times they commented on your profile.

Maybe it get the amount of friends u have and splits it up, so if you had 15 friends...

well thats an interesting theory, but how does it explain how some people are consistantly in the top friends?

Heres my theory,

When someone registers for the rock band site theres a random number generator that attaches a random number to them during registration prioritizing them on the friends list. This would explain why some people are consistantly at the top.

But we will never know unless someone asks the site developer.
