Sweet! I hope the list has some decent games on it. But either way a free game is a free game am I right?

Someone mentioned ps3 only, or no mass effect, and I'm hoping neither of those things are true.

Although, I suppose I could return a brand new ps3 game for store credit somewhere and pick up a game that I want (my brother's getting a 360 for the holidays, it'd be nice to have something to actually give him for our birthday). Barring that, maybe I'll just trade it for another guitar :D

That can't be true. They gotta give 360 owners a 360 game, I know they most likely won't give away free mass effect games but I don't even care for that game really.

I'm not one for a first/third person shooter myself, but I did pick up Mass Effect on Black Friday, and it was the only game that pulled me from Rock Band for a solid amount of time. I haven't finished it yet (something like 14 hours in and story-wise, I'm at a point that you could get to in about 2 or 3...That's how many side quests there are). I highly recommend it if you played Knights of the Old Republic (and enjoyed it).

The creators of mass effect are now owned by EA, however it is NOT for ps3, and to not care about the game if you have a 360 is to basically admit you are not a fan of games. which BOGGLES the mind!

I know it's not for PS3. Thus, I wasn't aware of it being published by EA.

No. Microsoft and Bioware. To the other person that was hoping for it, I'm sorry but your not going to get it.

They couldn't possibly make it a PS3 game only. I bought the 360 version of Rock Band there for I should get a 360 free game. I think it is really cool that we will have a list of games to choose from. I got my email this morning. My hopes are just that the game list are not limited to 2 year old sports games which I want nothing to do. But in any case we should all be thankful they are even giving us a free game at all.

Actually, Bioware was acquired by EA shortly after Mass Effect was released. However, I think it is highly unlikely Mass Effect will be on the list of free games.

I highly doubt we will get to choose from a game that retails for $60 right now. I would say it is going to be in the range of $30 to $40.

You only get a free game if you placed an order for a replacement and got delayed shipment. If you did not recieve an email claiming you will be given a free EA game then you will not be getting one.

Hope that clears it up for you.

So, what is considered delayed shipment? It took me 10 days to get my replacement, and that is about 8 days too long in my estimation. I knoe it isn't as much as some people waited, but it sure isn't express delivery either. And extremely frustrating to check UPS every day only to see "Billing Information Received". I did not get an e-mail by the way.:(

Hey to let everyone know I got this 2nd email from them today. There was another thread on this yesterday and what I posted on it was that you can pick any EA game except for Mass Effect and Orange Box. Also as said in a previous post you only get a free game if you received an email from EA. I talked to EA yesterday and the guy told me that you had to request a new guitar during a period of time when the delays were happening in order to receive the free game. He said something like any request before November 23rd or 24th should have received an email. I know I'm going to get Skate with my free game. Hope this helps.

Here is the thread that was started yesterday if anyone missed it.

Fixed that for you. RPGs aren't equal to games, y'know. :P

Thanks for that info. Is skate the only game worth getting? What would be your second choice? I was thinking of getting skate as well if they offer it.

Hmm, I am in that exact situation. Ordered 11/24, received over a week later, with the UPS site simply saying "Billing Information Received". I contacted EA through their support channels, but they are denying any knowledge of this offer.

Does anyone have any advice about how to be included in this compensation?

Thanks.

You don't need compensation.

I placed my order on 11/20 (yes, launch day) and still have yet to receive my guitar. I did express shipment too, so in essence, it's been about three weeks.

Heck, even regardless of the game, you could just get a popular one and then sell it on Ebay for one you wanted.

Out of curiosity how long did it take before you got one of these free game emails? I'm waiting on my replacement guitar and it's been almost a week (I did the express method) and I'm wondering if I'll be seeing one in the mail soon.

I requested my (first) replacement guitar on the 21st of November and received it on the 5th of December. On December 1st, they sent an email saying that I had been "subject to an unacceptably long delay" and would therefore be receiving a free game.

One thing that hasn't come out in this thread is that those of us who had that long wait--generally starting around the launch date--had people request replacements several days after us, yet receive their replacement controller in just three or four days. I imagine that added to EA's desire to do something extra to satisfy us.

Also, the word I heard on the games is "any EA-released game except The Orange Box and Mass Effect." This came from someone who got The Simpsons Game as his free game.

how's THIS for crazy:

the weekend after launch, my buddy is over my house with his guitar.... he starts having the doublestrum issue. about an hour later, mine starts it too.

we both go to the EA support website and sign up for the express replacement literally MINUTES apart. seriously. he puts in his info, completes the RMA, gets up, lets me enter my info. next, a long wait happens with no word from EA and our tracking numbers only displaying 'billing information received' .............................. about another week later, he gets the email for a free game "for his inconvenience" and i never do.

so, in summary, he put in his RMA the EXACT same day MINUTES APART with the EXACT same problem (double-strum), gets his new guitar the EXACT same day as mine... BOTH of our circumstances were identical, yet he got the free game offer and not me.

i think they made that offer not expecting the amount of returns they were going to receive, so they screwed the remaining people.

From what I've heard, you can call and tell them exactly what you told us (they will, of course, be able to check when you filed for your RMA), and they will apologize profusely and make you the game offer right there on the phone.

Don't get too worked up yet, an offer for a free game on 12/1 or 12/2 has far from actually turned into a free game. I've not received any of the additional information to actually get said free game.

So far I've been fed a lot of polite and accommodating conversation with no actual results.
My "appreciation" is starting to wear thin.

yeah it kind of sucks, I waited for about a week and a half to two weeks for the guitar to get here and the only email that I received from EA support was answer a question I had about a cancelled RMA. Whatever, atleast it got here.

Long story short waited over two weeks on the first replacement only to get another faulty one. I got the same free game email 2 ? weeks ago and then got the delay notification on the 1st and haven't gotten anything since.
