More than a little frustrating. The design of this thing in the looks department is awesome. The design of this thing in the functionality department is awful.

I bought two bundles. The guitar in one didn't work out of the box, the other was fine. So I ordered a replacement for the broken guitar and played with "old reliable" as I liked to call it.

The replacement arrived this week, and (a) it looks used, and (b) it doesn't work. The whammy was non-functional out of the box. Little surprised that I got a guitar that looks used, although that does explain the delay in the shipment of it. Ordered Thanksgiving night, received in December. Plenty of time to get a broken guitar, try and fix it, and ship it back out.

So now the replacement is going back, and "old reliable" bit the dust last night. It now registers 2 or 3 strums for each down strum, which renders it all but unplayable.

How bad is the design/quality control on these things? Especially since of the four GH controllers I've had (2 PS2, X-plorer, and LP for the 360) have been rock solid. Pretty much a PR/Financial disaster for EA here, I would think. Although the replacement service is nice, getting a guitar that would work would be better.

At this point, I'm hoping that a third party company will see this, realize there's money to be made here, and market a standalone third party controller that W-O-R-K-S.

gezz just fix the thing your self if your so pissed off the gen 1 modles were fine exept for a pad behind the micro switch being too small, so after so many strums the contact would bend away and make it harder to strum and eventually be far enough not to make contact. all you got to do is put some tape or some other soft but sturdy material behind it to make the pad biger so that the contact isnt being bent away and then the guitar is fine.

If you've gotten 3 replacements guitars already, consider yourself lucky, those of use who ordered release day just recieved ours. The one I got works great no issue's at all.

You shouldn't have to fix the thing yourself. That's the whole point.

just a question for you guys, have the replacements you've been getting had green stickers on them that look like they might be inspection stickers?

Yes, mine had 3 green stickers on the back. Mine looked terrible. I didn't take any pics, but it looked worse than any other replacements I've seen pics of. There was a 4 inch long scrape on mine where the paint was missing. This was on the front near the edge in the area between the d-pad all the way down to where the cord comes out. The toggle switch was loose and felt weak. The fret buttons felt like crap. Overall it sucked so bad, I didn't even bother plugging it in. I took a look at it, did some air guitar to see how the buttons felt and put it right back in the box. I took it straight down to be sent back to them, along with a letter taped to the guitar box stating that I am not accepting it.

I made a thread stating that the replacements are refirbished and it got some attention. Someone who claims to be with EA made a statement that none of the instruments are refirbished and that they get their replacements from the same place as the original instruments. Then some members on here actually gave me crap about it and told me not to spead lies when I don't know the truth.....Whatever, I then asked her to explain to me why I, along with many others, have received beat up looking used replacements. She hasn't responded since.

Yeah...I received my replacement almost 2 weeks after ordering. However as a bonus a got a 2nd guitar from UPS the next day. Both guitars seem to work fine (I am keeping both and won't be charged because the UPS tracking # on both were the exact same - EA has no way to prove they sent me 2!!!!)

Except for the fact that the tracking number will show 2 distinct shipping and delivery dates. Showing that 2 packages were delivered.

1st replacement, tilt doesn't work, has green stickers.

1st guitar (came with game) won't go on echo, won't control PS3. strum issues...
