Hello, yes, I am on of the very unlucky souls who have to wait till December 25th for Rock Band. So while I have been going to every website known to man about Rock Band and going to play it at best-buy :D I am quite scared. My nightmare is this- When I wake up on christmas morning, will I find one of my insturments broken? Or will I break one? Or will I be lucky and have a working set? Becuase a lot of people have been complaining about there stuff breaking.. well I have a mom who wants to sing, and brother who wants to play bass and another brother who wants to play drums and I want to play eletric guitar....Well This is the main thing I want for christmas..and if it breaks christmas morning.. Well I will be very very very very very very very very mad.:mad::mad: So any comments? Do you think it will break? DO you think it will be fine? Or are you having to wait till the 25 for your Rock Band?
Thanks for reading and happy holidays,
Wilson.

The only question you asked that was not a rhetorical one was "Or are you having to wait till the 25 for your Rock Band?"
for which I can answer with a "Was yes now No".
I have the PS2 and will wait a little bit longer to see if the instruments being shipped with it have issues.
Those other questions you asked? I'll have to consult my ouija board. :D

Honestly IMO if your smart you'll wait 2-3 more months to see what hardware changes will be made to keep these things from breaking and you'll probably be very glad you did. I meam come on, look at all the posts you've been reading of broken equipment and people getting broken equipment as a replacement. I would say and it should be obvious to you, that your going to have the same issues.
I'm sure your looking forward to having the game, but I think you'll love the game even more if you waited a couple more months when the equipment is made with better parts and more durable.
What's worse, waiting a little longer or the headaches of constant broken equipment to where you can't play the game anyway??

There's been a lot of posts, but consider how many copies of Rock Band have been sold. The Internet always hosts the negative experiences with the game, and while I've had a guitar break on me twice, the drum set hasn't give up after 3-4 heavy play sessions, and the Gibson of course has no problem playing the game (sorry ps3, activision sucks). Of course EA has replaced my guitars via 2 day air delivery, so honestly I don't have much to complain about.
And I figure for each of me there's a great number of people that aren't having any problems. I mean if your game is working, you are probably too busy playing the game to post something about your experience.
If there were thousands of posts here, and I mean close to 10s of thousands, then I might say it's a high percentage of problems, but at least EA is trying to resolve the problem as best they can. In the meantime I suggest informing new players not to be too rough on the instruments, if they can help it.
I would be beyond excited if I were younger and I got a copy of Rock Band under the tree. Think that kid with the N64 excited.
As for never being able to play the game, let me just say a couple things. The Microphone usually doesn't exhibit problems other than audio desync, and if your mic breaks you can use any USB microphone as a replacement, if you have an XBox GH3/GH2, the Gibson/Xploder works GREAT with Rock Band, and the drums, well don't smash the pedal so hard, or get some old knives and duct tape. Despite my guitar problems, I've been able to play with 3 friends at any given time, and we have, and it's been a lot of fun.
You will enjoy this game, don't let others tell you otherwise. Judge for yourself.

I think someone is getting me Rock Band for Christmas and if so, they got it from Amazon's first shipment (or at least one of their first)...so I'm pretty sure I'll have SOMETHING faulty in the package. I hate to say it like it's an incredibly serious thing, but if you "prepare" yourself for something being faulty, you won't be as disappointed. Then if everything works fine, you'll be pleased about that.
And you can't forget that with this many faulty instruments, HMX/EA/whoever is going to be developing new generations of hardware, so if something breaks, they've probably already got something more reliable cooked up to replace the crap with.

Pessimistic, Optimistic... Here's the optimistic pov:
You won't have something faulty in the package. EA wouldn't ship out the product if it was defective from the get go (I can't comment on shipping, but mine was packed up nicely so it's probably safe), but it may break, so you have to do a 3 day replacement, you'll live, the game is still great despite the problematic instruments. Try to have fun with the game, even if it's only for 8 hours, and stop reading these forums it'll just make you sad.
Of course this is all pointless if your parents are like, "You'll shoot your eye out kid!" Personally if my nephews were this way I'd probably send the game back and replace it with knitted sweaters. Be thankful you have parents cool enough to buy you video games at Christmas.

the first thing you want to do is crack the guitar open and make the pad bigger behind the micro switch, if you dont the contact will bend away and eventually be out of reach of other contact. after you make the pads bigger with some tape or with some other material close back up the guitar and rock all morning.

Well also keep in mind that not eveyone that has problems come to forums to complain. On top of that, those that do go to forums to complain, not all come to this specific forum board, there are others. Considering the game just came out a couple weeks ago and 10s of thousands of people probably don't own the game quite yet...even if that many do, a very good portion are Christmas presents yet to be opened and used...a few hundred or a couple thousand is bad enough this soon after release to warrant waiting a bit longer IMO.
Even you yourself have already had two broken guitars and suggested that "using knives and tape" or a similar fix might need to be used to make sure someone don't accidently break the kick drum pedal.
To me that's evidence and proof enough and your post kinda just proves my point to wait. Yeah I'm sure he'll have fun with the game, as long as his equipment doesn't break. But like I said, the possibility of that happening at this point seems most likely and he'll in for headaches for sure.

Yeah but people shouldn't have to buy a product and as soon as they get it home immediatly take it apart and have to 'fix' it so it works right. So your willing to buy a companies product and then fix it for them to so it will work in order to use it?? Come on, are you kidding me???
Maybe after I've had the product for a couple years yes. Cause some parts wear and tear over time and sometimes a little jimmy fix is required to get a older product to work like new. But to take a brand spankin new product home and have to immediatly do those kinds of things to it is obsurd.
I guess if your that hard up and just have to have the game 'right now'. I'm not spending 170 bucks for something I have to fix myself as soon as I get it home. Or even if it's not broke, I shouldn't have to use tape, 'knives', or other objects to prevent it from breaking either. Same difference.
People have been waiting this long for this game, if there is consistant issues with it, be smart and don't buy it till the quality of it is up to par.

well thats how I got my computer had a bad ram stick and I got it real cheep. but I guess this is diffrent sence its full price, but I was going to tell you why most pedals are snaping a lot of people are pressing at the verytop because you get a good lever arm and it is easy to push down problem is the spring is pushing in the opposite dirction, sence everyone who beta tested the drums proabley plays drums they didnt just press at the top of the pedal, that why I dont think it came up in beta testing of the pedal, but thats just my theory.

Fair enough!! I know I'd love to have the game, but I'm aprehensive right now. Best be safe than sorry I supposed so I'm willing to wait a little longer. Would have to wait till after the new year anyway cause I already spent plenty on myself and my wife would kill me if I spent more. So I have to wait anyway, which I guess is a good thing.

If you're really that bothered by it then you could do the following.
Order replacements for all your instruments using a credit card and the express method. Order it close to when you're going to receive/open your Rock Band box. If everything goes as planned your replacements will arrive in 4 days. Test out your Rock Band instruments along with the replacement instruments. Choose which one you want to keep and send back the ones you don't.
They don't ask for the receipt and you pay nothing for the replacements as long as you send the bad ones back. You have to send the bad ones back in 28 days and you have to be able to handle all those charges to your credit card. I would recommend that you wait till after you get your credit card bill before doing this if you're worried about the charges.

first..if you're getting a free rockband game stop worrying about it breaking and just play it till it does break...second the method to get it replaced is very easy, EA is VERY well aware of the problem. also, it only comes with 1 guitar so that brother that wants to do bass will have to wait until your mom purchases you guys another guitar
