Well, the Beatles must be about 21 ft. combined, and people were a lot shorter 2000 years ago, so The Beatles are bigger. But it's kind of unfair, 4 vs. 1 and all. :D

Weight-wise as well. While Jesus could pull manna from heaven on a whim, even he couldn't out weigh the four Beatles combined. Performing miracles and part-time carpentry is the best weight-loss program known to man. :D

Actually he kinda was and kinda wasn't.

He was saying it as demonstrative of the decline of religion in the 1960's. Of course, the press being who they are, completely ripped the small section out of the interview and ran with it.

Jesus is popular in only one major religion and acknowleged by two others, while The Beatles were a global phenomenon that transcended religious lines.

This is exactly what John meant by the quote that's been taken out of context. At the time the quote was made, John was quite deep into his religious studies. Merely stating that Christianity could seize to exist, but music would still continue to pass through the ages.

Taking that into consideration, I voted for My Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ....Superstar.

I'll go with Jesus Christ. I mean I doubt there'd be this much complaining if rock band decided to come out with a Jesus Christ and the Apostles rock band game. I mean they pretty much kicked ass.

Also I fear for my immoratal soul if I would've picked The Beatles. I mean I'm still planning to sell my soul to the devil for amazing drum skills but for now I'll hold back.

It really amazes me that the beatles are winning. I'm not really religious at all, but it's impossible to compare one of, if not the most influential people in all of history, to what is essentially a boy band. Have any of you ever been to a foreign country, a church or even an art museum. I was just in Rome not to long ago and visited countless churches, The Vatican. There is some really impressive stuff made in his name. There are 2.1 billion Christians in the world, and the beatles best selling album, Sgt. Pepper's sold 32 million In total which is less than what the Backstreet Boys Millennium sold at 40 million.

Why is this thread not locked? It's going off the quote that lennon said:
We’re more popular than Jesus now — I don’t know which will go first, rock ’n’ roll or Christianity. Jesus was all right, but his disciples were thick and ordinary. It’s them twisting it that ruins it for me The pope got pissed at him. Bible belt stopped playing beatles on the radio, churchs started hating the beatles calling them anti religious, etc. Lennon apologized to what he said was a joke and the pope finally forgave him last Nov.

hmm... Chuck Norris can beat both, but The Beatles could be jesus in a RAWK OFFI dunno jesus empowered johnny to take down the devil. And as we know the devil loves metal as learned from tenacious d and can play really good. He would also have his backing band the disciples and we all know anyone with a beard (amused they has one) plays great like zz top. With this logic jesus could put up a tough chalange.

Americans identifying themselves as "Christian" have declined 12% (http://yglesias.thinkprogress.org/wp-content/uploads/2009/04/christians_1.png) since 1969...yet the Beatles are alive and kicking in the rhythm game genre.

Jesus promoted theft (Mark 11:1-3, Matthew 8:28-34), self-mutilation (Matthew 18:7-9), being a dick (Mark 11:15-16), killing trees out of spite for not having fruit (Mark 11:12-14), disowning your family (Luke 14:26), and constantly changing the rules for getting into heaven (Luke 10:25-28, Luke 18:18-22, John 6:53-58, Matthew 18:2-3, John 3:3-8, Matthew 5:17-20, John 3:16) (Source:http://godisimaginary.com/i39.htm).

I just don't know how to say anything nice to your comment. If you were a true Beatles fan, you would know that the comment John Lennon made was taken out of context by the press, and not meant to be a slight against any religion.

You on the other hand, just seem to by trying to slight any and all religions. Well, gotta news flash for you...most people on this planet believe in some type of religion/god/higher power. So I guess that makes it Religion: Win, You: Fail.

Skode
06-09-2009, 08:08 PM
Come now people, some are taking this far too serious. Religion has NO place on these forums unless in proper context and even then people over react (aetheists were livid at Spirit in the Sky being on Rock Band 2 for goodness sake )

Weve had enough wars over religion as it is without a forum war on it ;)
