I only hate it because it's pointless. People younger than 17 easily can lie. There's no verification that the age you put in is the age you say you are.

It's just there to cover their bums. I don't mind. I like putting all kinds of personal information on me on the internet. <_<;

I dont really care, its not hard to just put a random date in.

It's not much of an age verification when you can be 12 and just click on 18 and that counts as verifying your age.

Any 6 year old can just say they're 18 and move on.

I get a good giggle in whenever my grandmother gets carded for buying cigarettes.

I once got a credit card gift card for christmas when I was 15 and used that number to get into sites that asked for age verification because the card was in my moms name. Now that I'm over 18, I no longer have to use it. Just shows how faulty age verification is over the internet.

I once was carded for buying non-alcoholic wine at the store. That was hilarious to me.

Haha

Honestly though, websites shouldn't even attempt to regulate what children might see. Parents should.

I hate the fact that people getting punched ad kicked are considered "inappropriate".

They should, but parents don't pay attention to what kids do. They don't now, they didn't when I was a kid, they didn't when my parents were kids...

I played the equivalent of T and M rated games (they didn't really have ESRB ratings until Mortal Kombat) all the time as a kid before I was those respective ages and my parents didn't know or care. I'd ask them for a game or buy it with my own money and that was that.

My brothers would look at porn on my parents' computer too. They did it all the time. My parents never noticed.

I agree with this. If you put your honest age and you're too young, then you just wise up and put that you're 50.

Worst bouncer ever :p

It's completely unnecessary. Underage kids can just lie.

BUT, I tried saying that I was born in 1947 once, and it wouldn't let me enter the site. XD

You can see it as a test of moral conscience. There's no penalty for lying.. except for the damnation of your soul.

i usually just click year, scroll down, and click randomly. I end up being anywhere from 75-85 years old

Pointless because nothing's stopping you from saying your 18.

Child: Can I get a six pack?

Cashier: Sure, but I need to know what year you were born.

Child: Um, 1923.

Cashier: That'll be $6.10.

It happened to me a number of times, even on my live account.

So remember kids, never be honest about your age online.

Ever.
