What a swell guy. lol Charging for meet greets is lame and disgusting but walking off stage at any given moment isn't nor is showing up hours late. :p
Axl: I like meeting all kinds of fans but after a show (I realize that's the only time some may feel they have an opportunity but w/the exception of close friends around...) not to be offensive but I'm generally not looking forward to walking off stage to hang with guys whether they're fans or not. I deal with Guns all day every day so coming off stage to talk about the band is just like more of the same. Unless there's pressing business I wanna forget that till it's time to go at it again the next day. And people may enjoy meet and greets and have their reasons why it meant a lot for them which I respect but overall charging fans for it I thinks disgusting of bands. Now if they did it for free to winners of a contest etc that would be different. Charging is lame. How to meet bands? Maybe try to hang out places u might hear they do sometimes.

Ironic but I agree with what he's saying. Not what he does but charging for meet and greets kind of kills the magic of the moment, you know?

Yea and I tend to agree though admittedly there have been a few packages I've seen and thought "Wow ok that's cool" like when it includes sitting on the stage itself but even then with the prices they ask it's still ridiculous. I just love it when Paxil goes and tries to sound like he gives a ****.

Axl is now declaring what's lame? He should look at himself first.

I'll never see Axl in concert again. That douchebag came through town here about four or five years ago and I was on the fence about going to see the new lineup of GnR. I went and the show was supposed to start at 7pm. Some no name band opened and played for 30 minutes....
Well now it's 7:30 and everyone's expecting GnR to come out at any moment...
At 11:15 they finally came on stage and played for half an hour and sounded absolutely horrible.. The next day the radio station in town said the reason they came on so late was because Axl was backstage watching Monday night football and refused to play until the game was over....

Axl is a flippin' idiot. He treated his fans like garbage going back to the days when GnR was good. Even back then, he came out on stage 3 hours late or not at all because he just didn't feel like performing. Axl still pulls this crap off because people allow him to. Then, he turns around and releases crappy music like Chinese Democracy. Even Axl knows that album is garbage, but he knows that people are so desperate that they run to the stores for anything.

While it is the pot calling the kettle black, I agree with Axl on this one.
Meet and greets should, in my mind, be reserved for contest winners and the like ONLY. While some meet and greet packages have added benefits (dinners, exclusive swag, etc.), it still strikes me as being extremely exploitative of a fan's dedication.

You couldn't even make that stuff up.
"I took my girl to the Poison concert."
"Awesome! How much was it?"
"$1200 but I got this awesome coloring book and the markers were even included!"
"Rad!"

LOL! So true. The really stupid thing is Poison has heavily papered their shows for the last several years so to pay anything that isn`t under the ticket price for them is just asinine if you`re going to go.

Does Poison actually have super-hardcore fans? In the vein of, say, Jimmy Buffett, Dave Matthews, or Phish.

Yes they do, the Uber-fan I quoted in my sig is one of them, biggest Poison nutswinger the world has ever seen. It’s scary how much he/she/it worships the band. I mean just look at the quote!

I could maybe accept Poison for what they are if Brett Michaels didn't take himself so dang seriously. He acts like he's Bob Dylan or something when he gets interviewed.

Yea I know exactly what you mean, I dunno WTF happened to him over the years. Somewhere along the lines he lost sight of who he and the band is. He came off as very genuine and down to earth way back when and had a sense of humor about himself. Maybe he lost it back when he lost his hair.

I quite like Poison, but they aren't in the same league as Springsteen for writing or anything. As for Axl saying charging fans is lame, he's right, but he's still stupid. Until someone beats the logic into my head to make me understand why "building the tension by delaying the show" is a good idea, i'll have to think he's wrong in the head somehow.

Y'know, as much of a jerk Axl is, I agree. When you boil it down, you're just paying to meet a person.
