I think it's a wild mix of posts, blogs, maybe anything you do here. Not everything is finalized yet.

I could find anything around the site about points, nothing in the help pages or anything, its weird. No idea what theyre for or how to get them.

What's the fun of a points system if you know how to get them? Or use them? Or ... do anything else with them that may or may not be implemented? Mysteries are fun!

From the software maker's page:

The activity points are when a user post any item to the site.

If they:

- Post a picture

- Post a journal

- Post a thread in the forum

- Post a poll

- Post a comment in a profile of someone else

- Invite a friend

These are the activities that are taken into consideration. You get one point for each of this activities.

And once you reach a certain amount of points such as:

- Once reached 600 points ( 5 blue stars ) they start to get a yellow star.

- Once reached 1500 points ( 5 yellow stars ) they start to get a red inner star.

- Once reached 4000 points ( 5 red inner stars ) they have reached all the stars

with the max poin 4000 points.

First users get the blue star.

This is to show how active your members are and if the admin of the
site needs a staff member, they know which user to rely to be active on.

Please forgive the look of this post. This post editor will be the death of me soon. Copy/Paste just screws it all up.

That system seems flawed to me. I don't know. I've seen quite a few forums with extremely prolific posters/bloggers/photo uploaders who would therefore accrue a huge amount of points very quickly, but unless it's quality material, that doesn't really mean anything. I sit on this forum all day, but I'm at work, so my ability to do certain things is restricted, and the amount of time I can spend posting is also limited -- so, I'm here all the time, but get no points? Sweet.

In any case, I can see the merits of the system as it exists, but I just had to point out that "posts a lot" is far - VERY far - from "makes a good mod".

I've been a part of the 'staff' at several websites and this is always an issue. People, not including myself, feel that higher points/post count makes them elite, or 1337 for the geeks. I have witnessed many arguments by these people should their post count be lower than what it once was because postings had to get pruned. One of those sites I was involved with actually based their next mod choice on their post count. Well, color me baffled on that one.

Quantity does not equal quality.

Edited: This forum software will be the death of me. Now links did not work in a post. this will take forever to get a yellow star! I only have 6 points, but I post threads, and messages very often. Hell, I just post 2 threads on the Rock Band space, and my points just went up 1.

Well we still have a long ways to go before the game even launches! Once the game comes out, there will be much to talk about. But for now, take advantage of the blogs.
