View Full Version : Possible Spider Man 4 Villain?

Strange, I could think of a dozen or so villains besides this one, though I doubt Stilt-Man ever had a chance...

During their chat with director Sam Raimi this week, CHUD got wind that Morbius, the living vampire, may be showing up in Raimi's upcoming, Spider-Man 4.

The long-rumored villain, touted by Marvel CEO Avi Arad, has long been The Lizard, but it seems now even more plausible that Raimi is definitely going to be attaching Morbius to the storyline. Check out CHUD for video of the director's coy response to the overall vampire question.

A little history on the character...

Morbius was created in large part because Marvel Comics editor-in-chief Stan Lee wanted to launch an indirect challenge on the Comics Code Authority's ban on vampires. Working with writer Roy Thomas and artist Gil Kane, they created Morbius, a living man who is given vampiric abilities via scientific means, and not the supernatural ones prohibited by the Code. Kane was instructed to specifically avoid Gothic fashion elements and design a costume for Morbius that was akin to what any other Marvel supervillain would wear, and he specifically chose the red and blue primary colors which were the staple of characters like Spider-Man and Superman. In part because of the success of Morbius, the Comic Code was liberalized on the subject of vampires and other horror characters several months later, allowing Marvel and other publishers to use vampires such as Count Dracula.

Interesting... Though I would rather have The Lizard than him.

After the abortion that was "Spider-Man 3", I really have no interest in "Spider-Man 4".

I just hope McGuire doesn't return. The series needs to be rebooted if anything. As a devout reader of the comics since I was 5, I felt that all 3 movies were disgraceful.

And The Lizard/Dr. Connors was always my favorite villain in the Spider Man universe, due to the complexity and struggle of the character.

I agree.

Willem Dafoe's Green Goblin was the best thing about the first movie.

The way they treated Doc Oc and Venom in the other two was sickening (considering those two are my favorite villains).

Why do all the Marvel movies suck? Fantastic Four was god-awful (and don't even get me started on the rape of Dr. Doom). The only good things about Fantastic Four were Michael Chiklis as The Thing & THE END.

Also: Tobey's back for Spider-Man 4!

I'm not seeing it then. I want to remember Spider-Man for the witty puns, and the great action of the comic books.

Fantastic Four wasn't my favorite, but I still read it, and both movies are god awful. Why they chose Alba to be the Invisible Woman is beyond me. She is hot, but she also can't act that well.

Yeah, it will either be a DVD rental or a (begrudging) matinee that my young cousin drags me to.

As far as F4, what about the Dr. Doom rape? He had the worst dialogue and there's hardly any Latverian in him at all! For one of the most Evil villains in Marvel's cannon, he came off as a joke.

Drag Me To Hell got great reviews~ I think Sam should just go back to making more horror films again.

I still haven't seen it.

Does anyone compare it to "Evil Dead"? That's Sam Raimi's best movie (series, "Army Of Darkness" is f**king hysterical).

It supposedly has that same mix of horror and comedy~ but I haven't seen it yet either~ (can't wait!)

He seemed to come off like another word for a cat that is partly used in a Tom Jones song. He is way more evil in the comic books.

X-Men 1+2 and Iron Man want a word with you.

The X-Men weren't enjoyable for me, despite loving the comics. I don't like Hugh Jackman, and far too much of the story was placed on him. Professor X and Magneto were extremely well cast though.

I'll agree, "Iron Man" was enjoyable, but how long before they f**k that series up?

"Spider-Man" was great, but the sequels sucked.

"X-Men" was great, but the sequels were lackluster.

(And this is coming from a comic-book & move buff)

Very true about the focus on Wolverine and the casting of Magneto and Xavier.

My problem with Spiderman 3 was that they didn't kill Mary Jane. They should have killed her like they did Gwen in the books.

I thought the original film was average. X-2 was by far the best in my opinion~ but it's been a while since I saw it.

Well, the first films in these series ("Fantastic Four" excluded) tend to blow me away, but the sequels usually suck.

Especially "X-Men". Patrick Stewart & Ian McKellen need to do more movies together!

That's what I hate about the movies. Peter is with Gwen before Mary Jane. Gwen should have been his love interest.

But, I remember in the '90's "Spider-Man" cartoon, he was always after Mary Jane Watson!

Morbius is as B-list as Spiderman villains get. I wouldn't get excited if he were the main villain.

As someone who has not really ever read comics, I enjoyed most of the Marvel movies. The Fantastic 4 movies were all right (though I agree Dr. Doom is lame in them) The first 2 Spiderman and X-Men movies were fantastic. The third Spidey movie was kinda meh even though I love Venom, he did not get enough attention. The less said about the third X-Men movie the better, that was just god awful. I also loved both Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk.

Edit: P.S. I want Carnage dammit.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Kingpin and rhino already "rumored" a while back. Along with Lizard and Carnage?

I would rather see Lizard or Carnage as the main villain. Carnage would seriously make a good movie if they let him ensue mass chaos and murder :D

This is how Spiderman 3 should have been...

More focus on Sandman and Goblin, then in the end where Eddie is in the church and gets the symbiot (Sp?) on him... the movie ends... leading into number 4 so he can be the main focus and then throw in some Carnage too...

As does Edward Norton in The Hulk.

Also, I love how everybody forgets about The Punisher and Daredevil. Those were just awful movies.

Dolph Lundgren(sp?) > Thomas Jane

I don't know, Carrey can do goofy and serious comedy, but Cassidy is purely psychotic and bloodthirsty. I don't know if Carrey could pull that off

I didn't know that people disliked the second Spider-man movie so much. I always thought it was the one most liked.

At this point I don't care for the movies, I just want more awesome Spectacular Spider-man.

Jim Carrey was okay as The Riddler because he is sort of a goofy jokey type of villain. I can not see him doing Carnage. Not that I wouldn't give him a chance if they happened to cast him, but it would take some convincing to get me on board with that decision.

Most wanted Spiderman villians :

Sandman ( Yep, bring him back. )
Carnage ( C'mon you nub nubs! I want Carnage! )
Hobgoblin ( Not Harry, Ned Leeds. )
Venom-Zilla ( He was in Spiderman Web Of Shadows. )
Lizard ( DAMMIT I WANT LIZARD NOW!!!!!!!!!! )
