when I mean "wait.." i mean wait for you replacement (i hope people out there are doing something about it instead just sulking or buying a WHOLE NEW SET!

Here's a stupid (yes, you can reply with "you're an idiot" if you want) way of fixing your pedal while you wait for a new one to arrive.

Oh yes, this only helps if the crack happened 2-3 inches away from where the pedal is closest to you (for all i know, people cracked it in many different ways).

Step 1: Get yourself 4 pencils and some packaging tape
Step 2: Tape up the crack with 1 to 3 layers of tape
Step 3: Lay down the pencils on top of the pedal, spaced however you deem "comfortable"*
Step 4: Tape the pencils down, leaving no part of the pencils uncovered.
Step 5: Play with your fixed pedal and wait for your new one

*if you do it correctly, it's not as uncomfortable as it seems. I played for 2 hours without getting annoyed that I was pressing down on 4 pencils.

NOTE: IN THE PICTURES ABOVE I had first used tape as the solution (why there's soooo much tape near the crack) but realized I needed to reinforce it with a "splint"

EDIT: I was reading some other topics and noticed someone posted something like this with knives, I guess I'm un-original. And an idiot.

that does work, and i decided (after hearing of all the broken pedals... i shaped some wood to the shape of the pedal spraty painted it black and put a cool design stencil on it and it looks pretty coola ctually (hopefully pics soon on how to fix) but yea and no bending in plastic at all and not unattractive, i suggest finding something to put on ur pedal,(also used double sided tape so i couldnt void warranty, though i guess a pedal snapped in half would be worse then a little tape eh?

I found that the best method (for me anyway) is to use the butterknife trick. I didn't make up the idea, I read it somewhere else and it's buried in the forums somewhere. But if you take 3 or 4 butterknives, preferably as flat of a handle as you can find, and duct tape them to the foot pedal. My bass pedal snapped the other day on Don't Fear The Reaper on expert, and the butterknives came to mind. It works good enough to play until my box arrives to send it in...

I got a replacement pedal. It was just as bad as the first.
I designed a sturdy wooden pedal and so far, people who have been using it like it a lot.

Does anyone know if replacing the spring with one of less tension pretty much solves the problems of snapped pedals?

The pedal snaps for many reasons:
a) the plastic is not strong enough
b) the crappy plastic is not reinforced anywhere
c) your foot slips on the pedal causing you to put pressure in places that will cause the pedal to crack - then snap...

If they would have placed some small steel rods running the length of the pedal and some type of non-slip top to the pedal it would never break.
